i think my wrx is sucking in water through the air filter from my bonnet vent!

:wonder: HI, I HAVE A 98 WRX AND EVERY TIME MY CAR HAS BEEN STANDING FOR A WHILE IN THE RAIN (IM TALKING A DAY OR SO) WHEN I START IT IT IDOLS FUNNY AND THEN WHEN I PUT MY FOOT DOWN AND THE TURBO COMES IN IT SORT OF PULLS BACK AS IF YOUR RUNNING OUT OF PETROL BUT ITS ONLY WHEN IM ACCELERATING. AFTER A WHILE OF DRIVING THEN ITS OK.
IS THIS MY PROBLEM?? AND IF SO COULD IT CAUSE ANY DAMAGE??
THANKS!

Not ideal is it? Assuming you don't have a shield of some sort, I'd make one up pronto!

yeah me to. will it do any major damage in the short term??

mine dose same only wen it rains and i have normal air box. think it only started since i removed covers under small vents on bonnet leading to water may be getting to plug leads. boost gets to 5 psi then niss fires then after 2 mins it will go to 10 psi then miss fire then after 5 mins or so after its fine. only explanation i can come up with

THATS A GOOD HELP BECAUSE IT DIDNT FEEL AS IF THE FILTER WAS WET BUT I COULDNT THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE. IT MUST BE THE LEADS THEN!

i paid around 50 quid for some new ones but it didnt help. might put covers backon and see after my re map.. like i say think its just damp for first 10 mins of driving wen its been pi++ing down like today

YEAH I CAN LIVE WITH IT. ITS JUST THAT I WAS WORRIED THAT I WAS GOING TO DO SOME DAMAGE.

The vent covers are there for a reason. The car willrun better wth them on.
