Hiya,

As i 'spect you all know, ive been copping a hell of a lot of abuse on here, and i thought "feck these dorks, im leaving". But ive changed my mind, im staying wether people like it or not, ill tell you why.

Most peeps on here dont have to read this, as you good people, but some of you... (The haters among you may wanna wipe the sh1t away from your eyes, this ones for you ;) )

First things first-
If this was the real world there would be no leaving, just a few people getting launched. If you want to abuse me, come see me in person, dont hide behind a computer screen.

What ive done-
Ive never posted saying subarus are crap (they not).
Ive never posted saying all the owners are complete penis's (they not).
Ive never personally insulted anyone on here without somthing being said first.

This all starts because i voiced my OPINIONS on a few subjects, no hate campaign, no unfounded personal attacks, just BANTER.

Most of you are fine, but theres a (not so small) minority who have their heads so far up their &rse's its unbelivable.

Four words that sum it up (apart from HEAD, UP, OWN, and &RSE :) )- Blinkered, Preaching, Hypocritical, Superior (not).

I think this post (from a scoob owner, Craig H) sums it up-

"WTF is up with some of you lot??
What is the problem? I'll tell you what - blinkered up their own 4ss tw4ts. I keep forgetting how superior some of you lot are
It's no wonder so many different clubs think Scoob owners aren't worth talking to.
Some people need to take a reality check."

1)-BLINKERED- (This applys to your views on every car make, but ill talk about Cosworths as thats what i know) Many on here seem to think that scoobys are the one and only god of performance cars, and everything else pales in comparison.
Many flattly refuse to belive some modded cars can be faster than a scooby just because it started life as a crappy nova sr or somthing, even tho its now 250bhp.
You dont even want to hear about other cars (your 'rivals')- eg the figures i posted up yesterday.
Its obvoius that 99% of the posts that put other cars down are written by people with hardly any knowlege of subarus, never mind the cars they are abusing (how many of you have ever drove the cars you are abusing, esp modded versions? Eh?).
Cosworths, for example-

"RUSTY"- no more than any other car of equivelent age, and 75% are owned by enthusiasts who keep their car A1, so no rust.

"UNRELIABLE"- ??? as standard theyre ok for 100,000miles if looked after, so average (The only place you ever see std cossies are at car shows anyhow). Tuning wise tho (this is where you realise people who talk have NO clue what they on about) cosworths can put out more reliable bhp than any 2litre engine. To tune an engine for big bhp you need to change the crank n rods for steel ones, the pistons for forged ones, right? Well as cosworth engines were designed purely for competition use, they come with those bits as STANDARD. Even 500+bhp examples use std crank n rods (Mike R's engine has 500+bhp and has done over 17k miles of track days and top speed runs and is still in top shape, find me another 2litre engine with that power n that mileage... :) ).
Even the std transmission can handle more than most.

"CHEAP" well, saffs arnt worth much (ill put good money that uk scoobies are worth even less when they are the same age tho), but Escort cossies sell for more than the equivalent age scoob, and a good 3dr/RS500 sells for even more than them and they 16yrs old!

"UGLY" matter of opinion really, but saffs look no worce than a uk scooby IMO, Sti Scoobs n Escy Cossies are on par, and the only thing that can turn heads like a 3dr/RS500 could is a 22b (tho a 22b is better looking). All IMO ;).

"ILL HANDLING (rwd cars)"- Well its got 2 less driven wheels than a scoob so its got a big disadvantage on the road (but you all road safety campaigners, so that dont count :) ). Its obvious from the posts that most had never driven a RWD car, you all seem to think that the ass goes out if you turn a corner faster than about 10mph, ill prove this point wrong this year on the track. Id say a modded scoob is deffo better handling than a modded cossie tho. IMO ;).

"SLOW" hahahahahaaaa. This doesnt come up much as 99% arnt stupid enough. The ones who say this either are quoting std figures (irrelevant as theres no std cossies around anymore!;) ), or are sooo unknowlegeable they are just spouting guesses. 270bhp costs pennies, 350bhp is a few grand and practically as reliable as std, 400+bhp costs not much more (if your not going places n gettin ripped off) and will last a good few years as long as its not your daily driver, and 500+bhp is managable as we already mentioned.
Last year at a 0-60sprint at donno at last two 350bhp RWD saffs got 4.7 0-60. 250+bhp ones can do 150mph, and 400+bhp ones can do 170mph+, 500bhp+ can do 180mph+. Not forgetting rwd= more power to wheels due to $wd transmission losses.

2)- PREACHING - Some on here seem to think that they can tell people how to run their lives. Eg- Theres been loads about speeding, going mental on people for it, but fact is, 99% of you do it, if you dont like it, tough, you not their dad, so shut up.

3)- HYPOCRIICAL- Unbelivably. If a non scoob owner says somthing good about their car, or somthing bad about anything to do with scoobies they get mercilessly abused, But when scooby owners do it about other car marques then its fine (or called BANTER :( ), why is it banter for you and not for everyone else?
And if someone proposes a test day to see whos cars are quicker, you reply with "no no no that just suits you", but you do the same by only really doing stuff that scoobs are good at.
If your talking scooby vs RWD cossie then top speed test is no fair (scoobies too short geared), 0-60 no fair (RWD nowhere near the grip of 4wd), 0-100 is maybe OK (grip still a big factor tho), 0-130 is fine, 50-140 would also be fine. No need to test handling as we all know scoobs will win (but at least itl show that cossies DO handle well, esp on the track).

4)- SUPERIOR- Many think they are above everybody else, and that Subaru is a Prestige marque, err no. Impreza turbos are prestige only in the same way cosworth, honda type-r, or lancer evolution is, to name just three. None of the shells are purpose built racing cars, all of these cars are derived from base model family shopping cars. People get labeled "MaxPower Brigade" if they modify the looks of their cars (what are P1's etc if not modded std scoobies? More hypocracy...) gets loads of grief even though many of you have different spoilers etc. I can understand if the cars you slate are tackily done, but they jus get slated because thay not as expensive to buy as a scoob (we were all young, or not well paid once, remember).
You also say about ALL (not some, like me saying SOME scooby owners are jumped up, middle aged, preachy, tossers, most of you arn't) RS owners being chav's with baseball caps and 14y/o girlfriends, well maybe some RS Turbo boys, but not cossie owners. But theres an exeption to every rule ;)

I have friends who own subarus, i like scoobs (and a great many other cars), i dont see subarus as 'rivals', i see everybody with a fast cars as rivals :) , esp other RS boys ;) , but im friendly about it. :)

I can see why all other car clubs think y'all a bunch of w@nkers (even tho most of you are not). :(

Sort it out guys....

Cheers ;) (to non head-up-ringpiece types)

Steve

PS- Christ! Its mad how much you can write when youve been out clubbin n got completley destroyed.... :)

PPS- I do regret being so harsh on the muppet forum but its just BANTER and IMO remember. I was trying to say that, IMO :) , its a bit pathetic grown ups doin the stuff they do, i mean, is there any other car forum on the net that needs a virtual "playpen" for the kids? Its not as bad as it was few months ago, but now its jus full of anti cosworth abuse instead!

PPPS- REMEBER! TALK IS CHEAP, SEE U ON THE STRIP/TRACK/RUNWAY.

Jesus H Christ Steve. I cant say Ive seen you post anything bad but it seems to me as if all your after is some attention. Who cares what people think - this is a public forum where you have the right to say what you want (within reason) and where others have the right to reply back saying what the think. If you dont like what they say then youll just have to lump it. If I had a pound for every time someone disagreed with me or was rude to me on a public forum I would be a rich man.

My suggestion is you get of your soapbox before a lot more people lose any respect they had for you, because I for one am getting just a little tired of these "oh mummy the big bullys are picking on me" threads.

Simon.

Steve do you really care what people are saying? don't let it bother you, and try not to wind people up all the time!

ARRON BIRD 19 January 2002 09:25 AM

chrisp 19 January 2002 10:12 AM

Steve if you are happy with your car, who cares who doesnt. There are plenty of people I know think I drive Jap crap and plenty who will come upto me in the local and start talking about subarus take all sorts. Most people I have met at meets, trackdays who drive other marques are awesome and a great bunch of guys and girls.

A lot of the guys (including me :D) had some huge banter with Mike Rainbird when he first came on here, when I see him at a trackday I always have a chat with him, great bloke and a true enthusiast and very well known and respected in the scoob community. I could name loads of others of different marques all petrolheads. I love a good banter thread, occasionally 'cause I know we have the best cars :D (joke ;) ).

cheers

chris

Read about half the original post and lost interest, I think you could have summed it up quicker.

Anyway, I agree wit hmost of what I read, I own a Scooby and I think there is a mindset amongst many on this baord, it is a Scoobys are good therefor evrything else is bad, that of course is a load of old bollocks.

I don't care for heavily modded cars myself, I think most manufacturers get the looks fairly correct to start with, but if modding is your bag and youlike the way your car looks, fine, beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that.

JESUS! I wrote this at 4.30am after a big night of alcohol and 'stuff'.

I cant belive i wrote sooo much, i couldve summed it up way quicker SORRY! (esp the cosworth bit in 'blinkered', no neeeeed)

Ive tried to edit it but it says my password is wrong (even tho its not for posting this)

Anyway, most of you dont need to read it, only the few who have problems with me (tho its too late now i suppose)

Steve
If it makes you feel better I was coming home one day when I saw a cossie coming towards me, he saw that it was a Scooby and turned round, as he obviously felt a bit playful ;). I thought put my foot down and go, so did he. I couldn’t shake him, he had more power. Plan B was called for, the handling test. I went into the first roundabout, he was still there. I went into the second one so hard I was sideways, he was still there. By this point I was almost home (it didn’t take as long as it normally did) so turned off, he gave me a flash and a wave (good sport) and I did the same.

It turned out that the car in question had some serious horse power, and was very well sorted. If you think that some people on the bbs are full of it, your probably right and I would agree with most of the things you said (apart from the reason they built the Impreza, it was built to win rally’s). But don’t rise to it one day they will come across a car which will wipe the floor with them (as I did) :)

Hope that makes you feel a bit better :D :D
Cheers Iain

PS I have now bought a LINK ECU and some new breaks

rsquire 19 January 2002 11:27 AM

Now before anyone gets the wrong idea.. i'm talking about the knob on me pectel :p

fast bloke 20 January 2002 01:27 AM

Steve - ya tosspot - I've had more than my fair share of arguements with you in your 2.3 posts. I must say - if you want to wind people up, you should expect it back. If you are not winding people up, but really believe that a car that was once great can compete with a car that is geat 10 years later, tell me this. Is a 2.0l Mexico as good as a Sierra Cossie - now we are comparing cars from 1979 and 1989. Now, think long and deep. DO YOU UNDERSTAND???
OK - Progress - Next step is to throw away your keyboard. Get at least another 10 years of education. Then we might be able to communicate on the same wavelength. See you in 2012 ;)

WREXY 20 January 2002 02:00 AM

I miss those good sport squirts back in OZ. After a bit of a race, on a nice safe road with no houses or pedestrians and no traffic, it was very often that you would flash and wave the other driver and get a flash and a wave back.

I've tried that here and if I beat them, and give them a wave or flash, they give me the finger instead. Even if I get beaten in my scond car and I wave/flash them, they still give me the finger. I think they take it very serious here. :D

Wrexy.

why are you so up ur own ar%e?

we accept that both cosworths and scooby's have their good and bad points but clogging up our forum with ur constant wingeing and generly being a t!t is what is pissing us all off.

like us lot post interesting comments about driving which is what we all love and have in common and less of this my car is better than ur car sh!t because everyone knows it is done to the pure skill and balls of the driver to extract that final 10th from any car.

I don't see why you are having a go at the muppets.

Leave us out of this.

We just end up with posts like yours when they turn into stupid bickering arguments that are going nowhere.

Don't expect the muppets to be forgiving with that kind of thread thrown their way ;)

Cheers,

Mr Footlong 20 January 2002 10:16 AM

Jesus, I have just gotten up and already I am being put to sleep!

I have never said that Cossies aren't good cars. I have wanted a sapphire for ages, but given the choice of owning a car that is easily just as good IMHO in every department and 5-10 years younger, I made my choice and am blissfully happy with it!

As far as I'm concerned I haven't blatently attacked you at all on here, but you really do come out with some complete and utter COD in some of your posts.

We are a happy community of SUBARU OWNERS on here, with exeption of the well known and well loved Cossie drivers etc(Sean, Mike, etc) that have been with us for a while now and we get along just fine(Mostly;)).

Things only get all wound up here when Numpties start drifting on, posting tosh and then getting the arse when people disagree. Read what you post, or post pay more attention to what you are saying and how it might be seen to others......

As far as I am concerned, you sound well and truly like one of the 'Baseball Cap' Brigade;). Calm your arse down on here, try to get on with most of us, who have been here happily for a lot longer than you and prove me wrong mate:)

If you don't like the way that things go on here, then it's simple, leave.

Cheers,

Nick:)
