Funnily enough, I've just been looking at the VW website.

230BHP. Could be quite good. Don't like the Alloys though. I'd want the standard GTI items fitted.

Expensive though

I think they are very expensive. Could be tempted by a standard DSG one though, seem brisk enough. I can't see me going back to petrol anytime soon though :(

Are you trying to boost your post count?

CupraT 18 January 2008 06:25 PM

FWIW - think these are like the new Leon CUPRA's where the actuall make close to 260bhp on the rollers.

Ian E 18 January 2008 09:58 PM

There are some on the Motorpoint website for £20000

JamesVTS 19 January 2008 02:18 PM

Very nice cars, and go A LOT better than a std gti, 230bhp std form, tho one came in our work that was aparently close to 350 bhp, and sounded lovely

ScoobyDoo555 19 January 2008 04:37 PM

I really rate them, but discounted it from my car selection due to it being too small.

Have been looking at these also - are the Motorpoint ones UK models or imports like the Subarus they sell. You can get the Bluefin for £599 which takes them up to 280bhp.

jespin 20 January 2008 10:56 AM

These have essentially the same engine as the new S3 and many have been mapped by Superchips / Revo etc to around 305-310 bhp. With a full exhaust and sports cat you're looking in the region of 320-330 bhp for circa £1500. Amazing performance when rollling.

For what it's worth, you can get these with the standard GTI rims too, they also do them with the GTI rims in black with a polished edge.

most car supermarket cars are imports as can make money on them and sell them on at a knocked down price compared to main dealers, tho be careful as warranty can void if buy an import ;)

Ive got a remapped mk.5 gti, running morego 245bhp/300lb/ft remap and font camber kit (works wonders, no understeer!) and ive got to say i love it bits, its not as quick as my old scoob but at the end of the day, its fun, sounds and looks good, does a minimum of 350 miles to a tank
(can be pushed to 450 if taking it easy on the motorway) the interior is quality and well it does everything i need it to perfectly everytime. May not be the master as any one thing but is very good at everything, and surely if you only have one car, isnt that what you want? Although i have to admit i can pull out my ninja for when i want to go really quick!

I have a GTI with bluefin and agree wholeheartedly with the above. Very good at everything makes it one of the best as an ownership proposition.

Edition 30

Yes I have Edition 30 with Blufin remap. Checked by AMD and seems a great map. This is a fun car for little money! OK not as quick probably as a 4WD but great laugh and always fun to drive. Took to Brands and was as close quick as M3 on track... quite a surprise for them! depends on driver obviously. Faster into bends.. carry speed so that little spin on way out. Good car. Understated. Hold value well. Seems sensible option. Not sure what the actual power output is. Got a full Miltel pipe on too (decat) which probably helps.

Apart fromthe extra 30 bhp over a standard GTI,what else do you get?

Can't take much to up a standard one can it? Just wondering

Shark Man 18 February 2008 11:25 AM

Think I'd opt for a 2nd hand R32 over a new GTi

No turbo :thumb: and 4wd

A standard GTI will remap to around 250 bhp. However, the E30 has been seen to put out around 250 bhp as standard - VW were conservative with the figures. The same remap on these will go beyond 300 bhp and they are more tunable than the standard GTI from then on.

The E30 comes with different wheels, half leather, colour coded bodykit (little bit different to the standard GTI one too) and the exclusivity of an anniversary model.

mattbeef 19 February 2008 06:55 PM

the E30 has a bigger turbo than the normal GTI IIRC as its the same as the Leon Cupra which has a bigger turbo than the standard TFSI FR
