ive just been looking on the polished bliss site looking for tips and advice etc.

ive pretty much decided that when i get the scoob back from being repaired, i was gonna order some stuff from polished bliss.

what im after really is a decent polish to replace the autoglym stuff i use now. dont get me wrong, its good stuff, but im intrigued by the gloss/wet look the blackfire range offers.

so heres my simple plan...

for polishing, i fancy some of the "blackfire gloss enhancing polish".

for protection, i fancy replacing the blue nattys paste wax with again a blackfire product... "blackfire wet diamond all finish paint protection".

im after a proper glossy finish.

i got a couploe questions now which i cant seem to answer myself.

1. german applicator pads, can use one side for applying polish, and the other for the wax/protection. can you use both sides in one cleaning session without washing it? ie polish using first side, then flip over and apply protection using the other?

2. also im gonna get a clay bar/lubricant. now ive gathered you wash the car, then dry then spray the lube on and clay over it. but after this does the car have to be washed again, or is it a case of wiping the residue of the spray lube away and carrying on with either the polish/wax??

thanks in advance, its a couple of grey areas for me. im not a pro and im just looking for simple effective results here. i dont wanna feel im wasting my time.

blackfire gloss enhancing polish". is not a real polish it will only add shine (just checking you no that)

1 not sure but at the cost i would just go 4 two they will last a long time and are very good

2 it is just a case of wiping the residue of the spray lube away and carrying on with the polish then wax.

My 5p's worth: the German Pads feature two foams for different tasks, but you wouldn't want to use one side after the other as the products can soak through and also you'll get yourself into a mess with product residue all over your hands... which will then contaminate yourbuffing towel, etc, etc. Just get multiple pads! As for the claying, we never wash the car again; in our opinion there is zero need to do this, so we always move on to the polishing without further ado. As for your choice of protective system, I would pool the money from the current sealant and wax choices and get yourself a tub of the older Blackfire Carnauba Paste Wax currently on special offer at £30. Yes this is a lot to pay for one product, but it will beat the current idea hands down in terms of richness and wetness on your red paint. :thumb:

ah excellent. so thats the sealent sorted. now which polish would you recommend for a wet glossy finish to apply before waxing? im trying to keep it simple. ie wash/dry the car, then clay it. then polish in one step and wax in one step.

I would stick with the Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish, as it works well and does indeed boost gloss terrifically. The only reason to pick differently would be if you wanted to correct any defects to a high degree, in which case you would be better off with Menzerna Intensive Polish. :)

to be honest with the marring and scratches/defects on the cars body, i think id end up needing a professional deatil anyways. its a case of making the best of a bad situation.

i would try a machine polisher, but i dunno what to do. tried reading up on various sites, but im looking for a scenario that wont take me forever and a day. any suggestions?

In that case I would forge ahead with the Gloss Enhancing Polish, hiding and filling as much as possible until the time comes that a professional detail is on the cards to get the paint sorted out good and proper. The hiding power of Gloss Enhancing Polish is pretty good, even better if you apply two coats in quick succession. :thumb:

sounds like a plan. ive had the car over ayear, but never clayed it either. so come a nice day, il give her the usual wash with my sheepskin mitt/two bucket method. dry her off, then try a meguiars claying. then couple coats of polish and a nice sealant wax afterwards?

bit of a bttt on this one. im just sat working out what to order from your good selves mr bliss, and i notice to above link for the wax on offer is out of stock.... but low and behold this is now in stock. would this still give me excellent protection and a wet look i sooo crave:norty:

also mr bliss, can you recommend what to use off your site to buff off polish and wax/sealent residues?

jotted down most of what i need to overhaul my current selection. im going for all new stuff to get the best out of what i have to work with:)

polished bliss stuff is cool,good advice aswell,will hope its fine this weekend the car needs a wash again lol

Andy, you`ll be shocked as to the residue the clay brings off. For example, run your hand over an area prior to claying then after. The difference is vast.
You`ll see what I mean, when you`ve done it.

Remember to warm the clay through first by softening it in your hands, like plasticine. I`m sure there are other methods that others use though.

Looks pretty good to me, despite the low lighting! You can clearly see a sharp looking shine with good depth. :thumb:

im very relucant to try out a machine polisher, as im generally concerned about what i would do wrong.

for a simpleton like me, i need to keep methods easy and as fewer steps as possible, ie buy polisher, apply polish and buff:lol1:

I think you'd be fine with a rotary - I was a little timid about mine until I clicked on to the fact I'd have to be a ham-fisted oaf to actually do any damage with it :)

I'm happy with my G220, I've used it on two cars now and feel fairly confident with it already; I can't comment on anything else really because thats the only one I've ever used!
