workhorse needed, opinions please

looking at getting a bit of a workhorse, basically after a large car/4x4/pickup etc to cart car parts around in, engines/gearboxes etc. only wanna spend a max of 2k, but want it to be a half decent drive on the road as i need it as my everyday car for a while aswell. a van would be ideal i just dont like the idea of driving a van as my daily driver too, so thought summin with a bit of street cred would be better, i like the hilux pickups and 4x4 type vehicles but a bit concerned about lifting engine blocks and gearboxes up into the back lol. it needs to be turbo diesel, and the back needs to be for carting bits around so a van backend would be better but i could just rip the rear seats out lol. i prefer to have windows in the back just for visibility. what o people suggest lol. cheers

Volvo 850/V70, nice low loading lip and you should see the weight the Police put in them. Pretty cheap nowadays. Some T5 wheels, still look good.

525 TDS Estate, might get a leggy one for 2k

I suppose a normal Pick up would do, bang some alloys on, nice paint. Nissan, Toyota, Mazda all do none high rise 2wd versions.

I suppose really with engine blocks, for the sake of your back they should go in with a Fork Lift and come out onto an engine crane.

Hi-Lux or Shogun

I have a Shogun and would have had the Hi Lux if it had 7 seats

You could always fit a winch above the tailgate for lifting engines in and out :)

i think a hilux/l200 or summn like that is what im after sonic good idea about the winch above the tailgat, would have to be attached to the roof to get the engine up high enough. i think i will fabricate a nice strong bracket and maybe do that. cheers guys
