What Is This Bit Of Metal???
Hi guys, was underneath the car today mucking around whilst fitting my facelift rear bumber and I noticed this bracket which to me seems completely pointless.
I've got a version 2 Impreza WRX 96. If you are looking at the back of the car, on the left had side, on the underside next to the exhaust, again on the left handside of the exhaust there is this L shaped bracket. The bracket is held on with two very large bolts. It is approx 4 inchs sqaured and bent 90 degree into a L shape. Its not holding anything on, and seems to be completely pointless. I removed it to have a good look and other than added weight I can't see any point in in. Any ideas what its for? I'll see if I can sort some pictures out to help IDing it. |

I've put one on my classic and there's certainly a mounting point in that area. IIRC, it replaces the tow eye. John |
No, its not that. The tow eye is next to it.

The bumper support bar also has 2 large bolt holes. Perhaps the bracket you are referring to has become disconnected from the bumper support bar?
