Locking Wheel Nut
 anyone any advise on getting locking wheel nuts off, the nut to take them off broke. All the nuts must have been tightened with an air gun as I was having to stand on the lever now I have 3 wheels with lock nuts on and no way of shifting, I managed to get a 19mm scocket on one and it screwed out but the rest wont shift.

go 2 a tyre fitting place as they usually have the sockets 2 remove them lying around.........i was lucky, i lost my socket, but the socket from my other car fitted it......are ur nuts the ordinary ones or the ones with the wee holes in them????
|
the nuts completly round with a pattern shape recessed into the top of it.
Think I'll give the Tyre Safety centre or Modern Tyres a try. John |

Re Lock Nuts
 Scubbay lent me a lock nut remover but no joy the Mc Gard nuts are hardened.
Not sure what the next step is as I dont have the codes from previous owner to contact McGard and they are nearly all damaged now in some way or form. This is what the ones on my car look like. McGard - List for wheellocks - the right wheel lock for your vehicle John |
John, take a run down to Carrick on Sunday, there is a mini meet to be held @ 1200 at Carrick castle.......I will bring my nut down and you can try it then, am sure the rest of those attending would be happy to bring theirs also matey

Why do these garages insist on tightening with airguns, I got a puncture and couldnt get the wheel off with a big cross brace, ended up having to leave the car at the side of a road for 2 hours while I got a 6Ft bar....
