Paintball 2008 !!

Thinking of arranging some paintball around May time.

Venue will be mayhem in Abridge, and they have some excellent arena's, including an Olympic arena :notworthy :-

Paintball Essex & London Paintballing - Mayhem Paintball Games

Prices will be sorted later, but from what I remember from going before, it cost about £15 for entry etc inc 100 paintballs, then you paid (I think £5) for every extra 100 paintballs you used.

I want an indication from people that will Definately be up for it (dependant on date). I really don't want this going the way of getting to the week before the event and having to cancel.

So if this does go ahead, I will ask for the £15 (or whatever the cost is) to be paid a month before going, if we do not have enough numbers, it will not go ahead.

I *think* they also allow viewers, but you have to stay in designated areas.

So, a couple of questions :-

1. What dates are best for people, does it take over from the HH meet (as usually is the case), or host it on a Sunday.

2. WHO IS DEFINATELY UP FOR IT !!! :thumb:

Nate 13 January 2008 11:58 AM

Looks like if we do this, it will be on a Sunday.

4 games in the morning session, lunch, then 4 games in the afternoon.

Spoke to TonyF on Thursday and he has managed to get a blinding deal :thumb:

£50 for the day, and includes :-

gun hire
clothing/goggles/mask hire
1000 paintballs
8 games spread over the day, including using different arenas

Not sure whether lunch is included, but that is not usually that expensive anyway.

after you have used up your 1000 paintballs (some of you may not even use this allocation up ;) ) every 100 paintballs after costs £6 ......... In theory, you are getting £60 of paint to start the day with ;) .

If you are going to be using a lot of paint, it has been suggested that we ask to buy a whole box of paintballs, as this will work out a LOT cheaper than by the 100.

If I have forgotten anything, I have asked Tony to add.

Thanks again Tony :thumb:

Supercue 13 January 2008 12:07 PM

I just had a quick look on e-bay and you can buy 2000 paintballs for £30 delivered:D

A few chip in and paint is sorted at a very low price;)

You are not allowed to take your own paint mate. That's how they make there money. They would recognise any paintballs not theirs or with the same colour fill as the ones they sell and will stop you playing.

Otherwise I would bring our training paint at £15 for 2000!!!

I'll try and get a discount on boxes on the day for people needing more.

Tissy 13 January 2008 04:12 PM

You have to be carefull with supplying your own paint, always worth checking with the centre first.

Some activity centres don't allow it. As this way the paint can be not the the correct standard for their guns and also it has been known for some people to put them in the freezer the night before !! :nono:

Can't think why people would want to do this myself.

Oi Oi !! I Still enjoyed it

Just not going to do it again :p

TonyF 13 January 2008 07:20 PM

Tissy, it's not to do with standards mate. It's how they make a profit. The paint used at these sites either either a group called Rec/training standard or seconds, which are probably the hardest/cheapest type of paint. They use it for two reasons, one for the lack of problems it causes with equipment and, two if you get shot you cannot use more paint and spend more money :) so better it bounces off rather than breaks.

Either way I know that Mayhem do not allow you to bring your own.The other reason most sites don't allow it is some fools used to freeze it before using it. Funny as it seemed to them at the time, having a frozen ball hit you at 250fps will at the very least draw blood!

Adidas 13 January 2008 08:56 PM

Have you thought of a date yet?
