can any one tell me how 2 stop my my98 impreza sport from momentarily holding back at 2000rpm? It only started after i had it seviced (82500mile) which was only oil and filter change.
I have also changed 2 optimax petrol could this cause it?
(changed plugs 2day, no differance)
any advice greatly appreciated

I am in the process of trying to sort this out, i read that on the turbo models they can get a flat spot if over full with oil.
My car did'nt have a flat spot untill it was serviced!!!!(at a main dealer)
I checked my oil today and its over full so on monday im going to take it to my work shop and drain some oil,i'll keep u posted if it makes a differance.(but won't hold my breath to it working)

All this grief 4 a main dealer stamp,i was disapointed to say the least with the quality of the workmanship, im a fitter and would'nt dream of returning a car the way i got mine back.
But that's another thing.

rotdot,

Do keep us posted... The every time we have had ours serviced, except for one, we've had the same prob. Disconnecting the battery helps *sometines*, supposed to reset the computer.

Simon,
thanks 4 the advice, i did as u said and disconnected the battery for a few hours and sure enough i've lost the flat spot!
Wonder whats done on a service that upsets the ecu?
Im going to call the dealer tomorrow to c if they plug in a diagnostic tool to look 4 faults.
if so perhaps this upsets the system?

rotdot,

I did the same to mine this afternoon and the car is transformed. I'm afraid this doesn't always work though. Any way, ours is much better, until it needs servicing again... :-)

Glad it helped you out.

Just picked up my MY02 WRX and its got a flat spot at 2500rpm, realy bad, dont remeber anything like this on my last one (but that was 5 years ago). Is this normal or anything to do with the previous posts? Any ideas?

Flat Spot

Interesting to hear what your problem was, my 2006 Legacy ej20 does the exact same thing..

Gonna do the battery reset thing first and see what it will do..
