SATA DVD Woes.

Hi all

Just wondered if anyone could advise a potential solution....

Whacked in the Pioneer SATA DVD drive, it shows in bios on sata channel.

However, in vista (64) it shows under "other devices" in device manager.

The details on drivers show it doesn't need any and that it is working correctly.

It doesn't show up in My Computer or anywhere else...

I did a quick google to no avail.

cheers

a quick look on google found plenty of people with same issue as you...
pioneer sata vista - Google Search

You spoken to Pioneer or checked their website for info ?

I checked the Pioneer website, nothing really on it (it's not like it should need drivers anyway).

It's a tad annoying :)

Have you tried upgrading the firmware?

another vote for a firmware update.

You could also try and assign a different drive letter to it. That will be somewhere in computer management under administrative tools.

Install Windows XP instead ;)

Or buy a samsung dvd instead, mine's been perfect.

It could possibly be your controller maybe see what updates are available for it?

Glad I stuck with good old IDE technology and Windows XP.

I think jpor is referring to the original problems WinXP had with SATA - ie. your install would fail if using a SATA hard drive, etc...
