how can you get a domain name from a camper?
 

There is a name that I am after, its registered, but the person who has it simply hosts one of those daft generic search engines on the site.

Its a .co.uk site, but I don't really know how to go about making it mine, if indeed that it possible. I had read that the rules changed so that people could not just register names and not use them. Is this the case here?

You can either :

Contact them and purchase it.
Take them to court to prove they are impersonating your business (high court only)
Go to nominet arb panel

If its just a name you want you have little chance. The people may well have used the email side of the domain for the last 10 years making your court action virtually impossible to win.

The laws were applied where people resistered sony.com / virgin.com and then tried to sell them to sony / virgin etc.

Doesn't cost too much.

The problem lies in proving that the other person is cyber squatting and has no claims over the domain & /or is using the domain maliciously. And why you have a claim over the domain.
