Richard Burns racing down my driveway
The owner of the farm I live on gave me these pictures of Richard Burns racing along the driveway and farm roads. I'm not sure why he was here at the moment, I think it was some kind of publicity exercise, I just got an envelope with the pics through the door out of the blue. I will find out what it was all about and update the thread.
Would have been amazing to watch. I'd love to have tried to keep up in my race car. http://i17.tinypic.com/6p5n4nn.jpg http://i16.tinypic.com/6jwbq01.jpg Rob. |

Yeah Richard was part of Subaru very early in his WRC career before Mitsubishi.
He competed in the British championship in a Legacy and then went over to the Asian championship in an Impreza. He did a few rounds of the 95 championship in the 555 Impreza. Came 3rd on the RAC when Colin won with Carlos 2nd completing a Subaru podium When Subaru and Colin took both championships. Great pictures of Richard having fun! Would love to know more about it! The only thought i had was that maybe this is actually Colin from 1996? The reason im thinking that is because of the number 1 on the door. Colin had that number in 1996. Maybe its Richard in Colin's car? Just a thought.... |
history in the making!!!!

Excellent pictures mate :thumb: As has been said, Richard drove a privately entered Impreza for a few rallies in 1994, and a few rallies for SWRT in 1995

Amazing shots, I wonder what they were promoting?

Nice story and history. Look forward to seeing the update on this bud.

Aparently it was Burns and Mcrae doing passenger rides for the Rally teams sponsors, a corporate jolly so to speak they hired the whole estate by the sounds of it. My garage was where they worked on the cars which is very cool.
