What is the difference between a GEMS and ECUTEK remap? :wonder:

girl-in-a-scoob 08 December 2007 09:49 AM

Im sure somebody will correct me if Im wrong.. but.. Im sure the Ecutek one cant be mapped as far as the GEMS one.. something to do with MAF sensors or something... You have to keep the MAF with the ecutek whereas with the others they rely on MAP not MAF... Its all to do with airflow

I'll go now shall I

Mocom Racing 08 December 2007 10:39 AM

GEMs is a complete replacement ECU just like the offerings from Apexi, Autronic, Hydra, Motec, Simtek etc. whereas Ecutek is a software suite that can be used to remap your Subaru ECU, these days there are alternatives that will provide the very same results on all newage Subaru's - don't be fooled into thinking otherwise ;)

If it's a classic and you wish to retain the OE ECU then I suggest speaking to Zen Performance in Northamptonshire.

GEM's is MAP based so has no requirement for a MAF sensor although a MAF sensor really shouldn't be an issue for most of you and is often a better option.

cannot fault the service from Alan Jeffery - Engine Tuner

very friendly and helpful, worth the travel.

built and mapped my sti8 with standard internals to 420bhp on a Simtek ecu. runs like a dream, never any problems.

If you have any queries, give them a bell they will be more than happy to answer any queries you have.

Like everyone is saying, Andy F, Jolly Green Monster, Bob Rawle. Your only problem, you will have to book your car away in advance. As these SCOOBY GODS are so much in demand.

fbladerrv900 08 December 2007 03:00 PM

Andy will travel - often a few folk get together and arrange for him to go down south. Highly recommended.

dynamix 08 December 2007 04:30 PM
