End of mobile phone contract

My 18m contract is up this month.

What happens? Do they just extend it or cut you off??

Wanna go and get a new phone, as this LG has stopped ringing (no, not because i'm billy-no-mates) and get some super deal.

They usually just continue to take the line rental unless u contact them to say you either want to stop the contract or continue with a new 18 month contract and get a new handset.

I phoned 3 the other day as mine was up and they were willing to give me a new LG viewty plus a reduction on what i was paying at present.

Only problem was they had no handsets in stock and could'nt say when they would be back in stock!!

yup they will just keep taking the line rental unless you upgrade and start a new contract, or get your PAC code and leave.

actually he raises a good point, surely after 18 months it should be automatically terminated. like a bosman

18month contract then a rolling month from then on.

My 12 month contract is up in a week or so but I'll keep it going till I see a phone that interests me.

what if you started a contract through carphonewarehouse, on a network, who do you cancel with?

supernick 04 December 2007 10:05 PM

Good point, that's who mine is with.

I contacted orange. They said i was due an upgrade today, then we got cut off. :( Will sort it this w/end.

So what are the good (free) phones at the minute?

Just after easy interface, make calls and sms. Take occasional pics. Currently have a LG Chocolate, because it lOOked cool and was small. Pretty basic though.

viewty for the win :o)

TopBanana 06 December 2007 12:08 PM

It's a rolling monthly contract, with a get-out restriction in the first 18 months.

Tell them you wish to leave, keep the phone (give it to the misus, kids etc), and get a new contract!

(IMO its best to go direct aswell, t mobile shops arent bad!)
