4.444 final drive on UK spec 6speed

What parts do I need other than the crown and pinions front and rear?

Also, are there UK spec 6 speed boxes with DCCD??

im sure the newage sti have dccd, pretty sure the WR1 does anyways

I think you'll struggle to find a 4.444:1 ratio CWP for the front diff in a 6 speed as it is a different size to a classic 5 speed box

The final drive pack in a UK 6 speed is also 1.1:1 not 1:1

DCCD was available on the WR1, and then the MY04 Type UK on (when the 115x5 PCD wheels came in, and there were spats stuck on the rear wheelarches)

I can get 4.444 final drives front and rear crown and pinion form Sti Japan,

Tim W: What ecxactly is the "The final drive pack 1.1:1" ?

Do I have to change that also to 1:1?

I thought the 4.44 ratio was for 5 speed gearbox's ??? I thought thats why the cars have moved on from this as it has been proved the feel of the quicker accelerating gearbox isn't as quick as the normal ratio box !!

The final drive is in the centre differential, on UK cars the CWP front and rear are different ratios, to balance them out the final drive is altered.

So if you want 4.444 (which I'm sure are only available for the 5 speed box, not a problem for the rear diffs as they're the same sizes on new age cars) front and rear you need a 1:1 final drive.

UK cars have 3.9:1 front and 3.545:1 rear CWP and need 1.1:1 to balance the ratios

STI Japan has a 4.444 FD kit for the 6 speed gbox.

The gearbox I have has part number TY856WN3CA. Can anybody tell be what this gearbox is excactly?

Tim W 26 November 2007 07:06 PM

I take it back, they do seem to offer a 4.444 CWP...daft...the ratios are far too low as it is!

TY856WN3CA = MY03 Type UK

stavros 26 November 2007 07:45 PM

MY03?? But it has DCCD. You said that DCCD exists on MY04 on... bloody confusing!

So, it must be 1:1.1?

Where did you find this information from?

Tim W 26 November 2007 10:09 PM

IWOC plus Catherine and Ken ;) Googled it...

The TY856WN part denotes UK, can't find 3CA part though

stavros 27 November 2007 05:26 AM

I know that TY856WN part denotes UK, but the last three digits missing form the tables denotes the year, that's the confusing thing.

Tim W 27 November 2007 10:56 PM

TY856WN3CA is listed on the IWOC link though as MY03 UK without DCCD, but that's only one link

Tim W 27 November 2007 11:01 PM

Oh, and DCCD came in on the MY05 Type UK's available from October 2004
