A local who was at the scene, who did not wish to be named, said: "I just saw the aftermath but I think it was a young boy driving the Subaru."

GREAT! More bad rep for us scooby drivers :(

wrx287 23 November 2007 11:16 AM

Just hope the drivers of the other cars were ok. If you want to drive quickly go to a trackday not the public road:nono: :nono:

matchmaker 23 November 2007 01:06 PM

According to the BBC website the driver was 22 :brickwall:brickwall:brickwall

Driving quickly does not cause crashes. Bad judgement and bad driving does.

A good driver doing 100mph can be safer than a bad driver doing half the speed.

Norman Dog 23 November 2007 01:14 PM

Ahh, looks like the Vectra drivers fault to me - he went to overtake the bus causing the Sccob to swerve and hit the BMW...Probably :wonder:

Bloody Vectra drivers.

Abdabz 23 November 2007 01:27 PM

He'll probably say it was late, the roads were quiet etc which in some peoples eyes will make it all OK ;)
Maybe he was pretending to be Mahoney from Police Academy when he was a parking attendant? :cuckoo:
Seriously, take the boys license off him and save a life or two...

finalzero 23 November 2007 01:32 PM

Doesn't look like he was speeding otherwise the aftermath would have been far worse.

Judging from the picture the two car's pulled out to overtake the bus and left the scooby driver no choice... we hope otherwise it's more bad press

Herbie. 23 November 2007 01:46 PM

Guys, where the Vectra and bus are is a que for the traffic lights. I dont know if the bus and vectra were stitting still or moving at the time.

Wurzel 23 November 2007 02:09 PM

He must of swerved to avoid a stray wild haggis running across the road :D

Paul3446 23 November 2007 03:10 PM

Isn't this thread a S.O.A.B.? :)

gam1415 23 November 2007 03:22 PM

Well known driving technique in Scottish cities for getting two cars in one metered bay.

Except for the fact that he appears to be on his own side of the road.:wonder:

Maybe the Scoob swerved to avoid hitting the low loader parked on its nearside :wonder: :wonder:

Being a local this is my 2p worth :Suspiciou

Where the bus and Vectra are situated leads up to a set of traffic lights and is two lanes. The loader you can see to the left of the Scoob is a local pickup vehicle which was meant to be collecting the Scoob but it (the scooby) later fell on its side 40 mins after impact apparently

Where the loader is sitting theres a bus stop to the left and being late night shopping last night I reckon it was full and a bus was collecting passengers. Now.... you can get past the bus but its tight especially when cars are static on the other side as you can see where the loader is in the picture but perhaps the lad tried to fly past and has clipped the offside front on the Vectra then rolled up the BMW

I could be totally wrong though :freak3:

if any press article mentions a subaru then any reader will automatically thinks it was going fast and thats why the press always use the make of car as a eye catcher..

I believe this is obviously a well timed action pic, the subaru driver is an escaped convicted and is just about to enter a 360 movie style jump over the waiting police road block......landing back on it wheels, then on to the mexican boarder.

rossyboy 24 November 2007 04:51 PM

The driver was 22 and was charged by the police. So basically first impressions were correct.

Snazy 24 November 2007 04:55 PM

Fookin plank!

Well done muppet.

Nikao 24 November 2007 05:40 PM

at least nobody was seriously hurt
