for someone that have been self employed for the last 12 years in the catering factor which makes my experience minimal,.
i am having trouble to find work.
i have been declined by B&Q, Makro, Will hill telebetting,
xmas temps in meadowhall.

Have you tried Tesco?

or if you have prev worked in catering, what about mcdonalds?

in all seriousness you can work your way up to manager and earn ££'s (very well paid)

Try Argos and the Post Office they're always looking for staff this time of year, don't stop trying something will crop up!

Good luck :thumb:

You tried staying in the Catering business which you have plenty of experience in or is it that you just fancy something different.

Asda employ loads of people, experienced or not. Christmas coming up they'll have loads of hours going and the pay isnt too bad considering what others offer.

Good luck :thumb:

Try a delivery firm as a warehoseman seeing as its coming up to Christmas i.e. TNT, DHL etc.

Have you tried the local building sites to see if there are any labouring jobs?

I know how hard it is to get a un skilled job around here. My nephew has tried everywhere but the place is saturated with Eastern European workers. He must have tried every factory in the area but could find no work for 6 months, Luckily he has just been taken on by asda.

Are you registered with some reasonable temp/permanent agencies?

Have you thought about asking in Garden Centres as they take on general staff for Christmas and many have small restaurants these days so you could hit them on two fronts.

Around here there are some upmarket catering companies that pay quite well for waiting and other staff because of unsocial hours - late nights etc. dl

If William Hill and Makro in Sheffield have turned you down, then it must be something in your interview technique thats letting you down.

sorry to ask...

do you have a criminal record?

turboman786 17 November 2007 06:59 PM

Call centres are always recruiting......if you stick with the big names, they are OK(ish) places to work...and the pay is slighlty higher than retail...
