http://smilies.newcastlebeats.com/smilies/wave.gif Good evening :) Well, Morning now but there we go. So what is it you exactly want to know, bit late for me to be writing an essay... Really suprised you'd buy such an expensive, high maintenance dog without know what your letting yourself in for. You wont own the dog, he'll own you :D
They're stubborn Hard to train (but not impossible) Very Loving Walk him through town and people will think he'll eat their kids even though theyre the softest breed Ive come across Wrinkles need daily cleaning with baby wipes, as do their arse depending on how the tail is situated, luckily with my latest one he doesnt suffer from that but my previous pooch needed it wiping at least twice a day. Suffer badly from heatstroke. Oh and dont let them sleep on the bed otherwise you'll only end up sleeping in the spare room after a while cause they dominate big time lol. Feel free to PM any questions or keep this thread alive. I'll check back in the morning for any specific questions. Oh and one last quick thing, I dont know where you sourced the breeder or told you anything about them but, the named breed for them is just Bulldog, not English or British as many people think :)
Maybe spk tomorrow if your around. Night all. |
Dave your boy is gorgeous :luvlove: I would absolutely love a Bulldog and every time I see pics of them I feel my resolve weakening :D I don't know how one would get on with our Staffy though, my guess is the Bulldog would be king :lol1:

Here's another skateboarder. I wonder how long it took to train him?

Thanks for the comments.
Mark, apart from the usual stuff like cherry eye and making sure their bollocks have dropped (presuming its a male etc) theres not much you need to know that other dogs dont suffer from. Dont expect it wanting to walk far, mine actually runs off in the winter and hides in his bed (the cupboard under the stairs) when its raining and I pick his lead up. Quite comical really. Scouse, Im not a breeder no, unfortunately it takes alot to breed these, they need a helping hand to get it up so to speak lol. PITA to reare too. I dont think Id manage myself, I know of a few breeders though. The Dam of my dogs breeder is no longer breeding but his Sire comes from the following which has a good line of dogs. KINGROCK - Breeders of Bulldog, Boston Terrier, French Bulldog Dont expect the Bulldog to be as active as the boxers ;) Dave |
I have a boy Bulldog who is now 2 years old. We had a lot of problems with him even though he came from a known breeder, his Dad was a show dog and we saw both Mum and Dad. He had a cherry eye, torn crucial ligament and a bowle interserseption. Luckily he was insured as he had to have a operation for the bowle interserseption and that cost over £2500.00. My only advice would be to feed him/her on Bulldog24, unless you want a smelly house.
Our dog (Ronnie) sleeps 23 hours of the day, and normally snores quite loudly. Soft as anything, can't bite, very loving. |
Pics please :luxhello:
Agree on the inability to bite, completely useless lol. Snores and farts alot here too :thumb: |
Thanks all
Many thanks dave i hope he dont get to many problems but if so ill be here to sort it out asap at my locall vets they ben there 25 years and are very exspereienced with bullies,he does fart alot and the balls dropped thing can u exsplain more when it should happen ect ect
many thank m ward scce |
Mark, one mistake we made with our first Bully was one of his balls hadnt dropped, they should be both dangling (:lol1: ) at 6-8 weeks. If not then theres a chance it may have got caught in the tubes etc, it can become cancerous and a castration is usually the only way forward, its a shame because I would have liked to have put my first dog up for Stud as he was a superb example, one of the best they'd seen according to alot of breeders when I took him to shows, although I couldnt actually show him in the ring either because of the missing ball problem :(
Good luck, be nice to see some piccies of your pooches though :) |
Do you mind me asking how much you paid for your Bulldogs? I've just been looking at some Kennel Club breeders and it seems I wouldn't get much change from 2K
I normally take on rescue dogs but I doubt I'd find a Bulldog. |
You can get a Bulldog from the Bulldog resuce centre http://www.bulldogrescue.co.uk/ Although they do ask for a deposit and you probably would be on a long waiting list. I paid £1000 for my first dog quite a few years ago now. I bought Nelson 5 years ago for £1000 and that was cheap because I know the breeder, the others were going for £1300 for a Dog and £1500 for a Bitch. They generally are a bit more now though. Worth every penny though IMO.
I plan on going travelling in less than a years time and looks like I may have to give Nelson up  My parents wont take him in cause Dad doesnt like dogs in the house and unless my ex finds a house she cant take him into her flat so I was hoping my breeder would take him. Depending on who it is and their facilities for him I may hand him over to someone else more fitting though ;) lol :(:(:(:(:(:( |
How is he with other dogs Dave? :D
|
He loves other dogs, he was once attacked by a puppy Collie and just ran behind my legs to hide bless him, hes the softest dog ever, I know it sounds bias but he is a proper softy, he can be a pest to other dogs for the first 10 minutes though, trying to socialise when some older dogs are just not interested. :)
|
He sounds perfect, when did you say you are going away? :D
Seriously, if you need a foster/adoptive home for him I'd be very interested :) |
I'll see closer to the time, was supposed to be May but the g/friend is trying to put it back to September because of work commitments. Although I'll probably be selling my house before that date but I'll bear you in mind Sal :)

Will try and post some pics tonight

This is our Bulldog "Ronnie" Normally either his teeth are sticking out or his tongue. We have had problems with his skin, our other dog was playing and bit him, broke the skin and our bulldog came out in wet eczema in about 2 hours, took him to the vet, vet said best thing to do if it happens is to shave him to let the air get to it. We are always either cleaning his rolls, or his ears. But he is a lovely boy. Here he is when he was a puppy. https://i242.photobucket.com/albums/..._1/ronnie1.jpg |
:luvlove: Ronnie is gorgeous :luvlove:
|
Beautiful dog :D They make me laugh when their teeth are sticking out :D Makes them look so brutal yet so soft :)
