Insurance quotes - bottomed out?

Getting around to ringing around for quotes this year instead of just accepting the renewal. As I haven't done this sort of thing for the car for a couple of years I was wondering if the lower quotes I was getting were more or less as low as they would go. Anyone comment?

Rough details: me and wife - both over 40, Passat diesel estate 2001
One traffic offence and one 'fault' accident in last 5 years.
Wokingham. Berks area, car on drive.
Business use as well as social etc

Got down to about £300 annual, £250 excess with protected no claims and legal cover to £100K.

Is it worth me spending another couple of hours on the phone?

There's a great insurance forum here you can ask your question in.

Confused is owned by Admiral, or their owners, so not the totally unbiased web site you'd think .... though I did try them.

Went with A-Plan in the end. £329 for me, wife and business use. Me with one 'fault' accident 2 years ago and 1 traffic offense (but license is clean!!) - fully protected no-claims (can have 1 claim per year!) and only a £100 excess .

Sounded like a bargain to me.

yeah sorry, i know its a lower price than mine, i just meant its not substantially lower really considering your extra experience and that fact your car isnt perhaps as tarred with the 'kev racer' image of the VRS... just a thought

But mine also covers business use - plus I was getting to the 'minimum' quote level. Be surprised if someone with the same 'points' and 'experience' as me could get much lower.

I've got 2 cars on £300 mark through an advertiser on here - RA & Volvo XC

Good service & for maybe another £100 I can't be bothered (haven't got) the time to get it lower.
