KW Variant 2 & 3

I've just received a set of KW Coilovers from a spur of the minute purchase off of Ebay. They have unfourtunatly arrived at my work and i won't be able to get to see them till Thursday.

From what i can tell from the KW Website they don't manafacture a Variant 2 coilover set for a 2003 STi???

Which if thats the case then it looks like i might well of got hold of the Variant 3's for a bargain price:norty:

BUT the ones i've recieved havn't got the exterior reservoirs on them :wonder: They don't look like Variant 1's as all four of them are Stainless Steel.

Heres the link to the auction. Anyone shed any light on what they might be?? Find SUBARU COILOVERS IMPREZA NEW KW KIT on eBay within, Subaru, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 03-Nov-07 15:45:57 GMT)

Does anyone run them on the road ?? If so what's the general opinion on them?

Have just got myself a set of V3 for an MY99, there is an external reservoir one one pair only. AFAIK the main difference is the V3's have adjusters on both the top and bottom of the units, where as the V2's only have an adjuster on the top. HTH. Have not had time to fit mine either.

Variant 3s are being redesigned as we speak and will now have external resevoirs. (Not yet released)

The current external reservoir dampers are that of the more expensive "Clubsport" range.

The V2s are single rate adjustment, the V3s are duel rate adjustment and will have a 2nd screw at the bottom of the damper.

Hope that helps.

I enquired about V2s for a newage and was told they are not available. He says he bought them brand new for £720... which should mean they are V1s. Easy way to tell if you have V1s or V3s, the V1s won't have damper adjustment knob. Can't see from the eBay pics if they are adjustable or not.

If he was genuine in the initial cost then they would be variant 2. Variant 3's are £1095-£1295 for the Impreza.

£400 though is good :thumb:

If V2s are £720 new how much are V1s..... they must be a real bargain if damper adjustment isn't required.

Looking at the Revolution site they look like they might well be Variant 1's. Still not bad as they are over £900 on there. Bound to be an improvement over the OEM setup..

Zak can you guess what your next job on the car might be ?? ;) :thumb:

Sorry Tony, you're right - v1 are circa £750, v2 are £920

Did you get these fitted? If they are the fixed rate dampers i'd be interested in what you think of them?

Cheers,

Tony.

Tony
They are still sitting in the box on the Kitchen table at present M8. (which the grirlfriend just loves) Not decided weather to fit them or sell them on and save up for the Variant 3s.

LOL.... :D

If you do decide to go for the V3s give me a shout on these, for the price i'd be willing to give them a try.

Tony.

All booked in with Mocom to be fitted on the 9th April at long last :thumb: Can't wait to feel the difference, along with Zak's custom Geomatry setup should be quite a change :thumb:
