Limp Mode on demand?
 

I have heard about scoobs going into "limp mode" due to certain issues. I have to let my car go into a garage which I don't personally know, in an attempt to prevent any "Test Pilots", I was wandering if you can force "limp mode"?

Car is my95 classic wagon JDM.

Anyone know if it is possible?

if it is possible, its pretty common knowledge that all they would need to do is reset the ecu and away they go

in fact, if they do "test" it out without resetting the ecu, ragging it in limp home mode is probably not going to do the car any good anyway

why not take it to a reputable garage? where are u based?

It's an insurance job and I am still waiting to see where they suggest it should go to. If I am too concerned I'll reject the offer and suffer the extra hassle of taking to somewhere myself.

Limp mode was just a thought really. Not too good of a thought either by the sounds of it.

i guess one thing u could do is a post-it note on the speedo with the mileage written on it... they would at least know you've noted it down then

What I found out by mistake, was if you remove the earthing wire on the back of the speedo, the car will go on limp mode giving a speed sensor error on the CEL.

Yeah write the miles down and let them know you have done so, but in a nice way!

they should right down the miles, amount of fuel etc anyway when they take the car in for repair as well as any damage being claimed for or not.

Connect the wategate actuator directly to the turbo outlet nipple.

Bingo...it'll run about 0.5 bar without any fault codes :D


As a note: NEVER let an insurance company bully you to take your car to their "reccomended" repairer. It's your car therefore it's your choice. Don't let the thought of convenience take precedence over the risk of a substandard repair. :)
