honda s2000 2.2 litre??

did they come with 2.2 litre engines in the uk if so what years were they produced and whats better the 2 litre or 2.2?
iam thinking of a 2004 model is that when the handling was sorted out?
cheers

Dracoro 07 November 2007 12:10 AM

No.

Only 2.0 in UK.

Revisions in 2002, 2004 and IIRC 2006.

Nothing wrong with the handling, whatever year. Later ones got a little bit softer (Honda wanted to start selling also to pansies after selling loads to enthusiasts :D) but TBH you'd be splitting hairs. However, worth getting a full geo setup if handling doesn't seem 'right' as proper geo works wonders.

Loads of good info at www.s2ki.co.uk

Calling Saxo Boy !

Come to think of it, not seen him posting recently ?

SiDHEaD 07 November 2007 09:38 PM

I've had an MY02 and an MY04 - they MY04 is miles better to drive day to day and wet weather etc, however on a fairly smooth road (track), on a hot, dry day the 02 would be better. 04 also looks better (main reason i upgraded).

Tilting like a good'un I suspect. ;)

LG John 08 November 2007 01:01 AM

I stuck my head round the door just after Dracoro's post but I don't have anything to add :D I had a 2003 and liked it but the 2004 revisions were nice with revised looks and 17" alloys.

top_fuel 10 November 2007 06:52 AM

if you get the GT versions with the hardtop... do you still have a soft top?...

the hard top goes over the soft top... is that correct?

thinking of buying a S2K... yellow or black !

Dracoro 10 November 2007 11:14 AM

Yup. Hard top is like any other, take it off and you've still got the soft top.

I'm on my 2nd S, black this time, looks great but gets dirty and shows blemishes (fortunately, I have hardly any :D). I had silverstone before and that hides more but doesn't look as good IMO. Same for many cars though, the colour thing.

Yellow great but, unlike black/silver etc., will be a bu66er to sell when it comes to that time.

LG John 10 November 2007 01:25 PM

Orange looks best in the flesh :)

top_fuel 10 November 2007 02:57 PM

thanxs for the reply Dracoro :)

orange is puke (my opinion of course)... thought yellow would be easy to sell cuz it'll look so flash ;) .... black on black rims is shweet as candy

would really like the jap white... shame they dont do it in the UK!... and why o why is red the only free color!... wtf!.... 800 quid more for yellow!...

LG John 10 November 2007 03:46 PM

I said that top-fuel until I saw it in the flesh. If you've just seen pics you ain't seen it properly yet :)

GaryCat 10 November 2007 04:38 PM

The Accord Type-R had a 2.2 litre vtec engine, but S2000s have always been 2 litre.

Stunning car, the best roadster you can buy until you get into boxster price territory.

all uk S2K have them headlight squirty things?... maaaan it looks poo!

how do ppl normally get rid of them... remove, fill holes and spray?..

Dracoro 11 November 2007 06:53 PM

EU legislation and all that, with the lights you must have them by law etc....

Not a problem with a black S ;) :D You don't notice them.

Many people re-sprayed them to match car colour or removed and filled in holes.

LG John 11 November 2007 07:50 PM

Mines were sprayed to match the body colour and you never noticed the after that.

top_fuel 12 November 2007 05:31 AM

ah ic ... it will pass MOT if you remove them right?

you guys on any S2000 forum apart from S2Ki?...

If you don't find your info there, you won't find it anywhere :D :D

I purchased one of these new for my wife in the summer, I had a 330bhp Sti version 6, and to be honest the Sti was quicker but you will be very suprised with how mcuh speed you can carry into bends with the S2K, I really enjoy driving this car and it is a proper sports car.

I have a 300hp STI 5 and would swap for an S2000 in a heartbeat. Yes its slower on a bumpy scottish road and slower in a straightline but it's a much more fun and involving car. Also rolling from say 40-140mph there wouldn't be a great deal in it tbh.

nisr227 13 November 2007 08:14 AM

Anyone been out to the Nurburgring with their S2000's in a group?
Thinking of getting one next year and it would be great to have a trip with such a car (in the busy summer).

subaru cars arent that fast in a straight line , i had a mercedes e320 diesel and that would eat subaru for din dins cruise at 140 on the cruise control .
not sure what the subaru is good for apart from visiting shell garages on a regular basis .got a bugeye wrx 300bhp its ok but i wish i had done my home work and got a sti .:thumb:

monkeysan 14 November 2007 07:42 AM

dude at work had a "raspberry" one, it looks sweet

he had to sell it after him and his partner used some COLOURFULL language in the local dealers and were barred from all honda garages in the northeast

now they've upgraded to a Lotus Elise instead, power of the pink-pound eh :Whatever_

LG John 14 November 2007 12:41 PM

Elise is a sideways movement if you ask me :)

Just like moving from an M3 to an RS4, etc

monkeysan 14 November 2007 01:00 PM

maybe, at least he can get this serviced tho ;)

LG John 14 November 2007 01:31 PM

LOL at being banned from a car dealership btw. WTF did he say!!!
