refurnbing callipers

Im going to get another spare set of calipers for my 205 GTI and fancy refurbing them and painting them.

What is involved with this once they are off the car, how do they come apart etc.

I ask this here as i assume they all work on the same principle.

Cheers

HI
To do them properly they need to be stripped and bead blasted to get all muck and rust removed off them , we primer and spray them then , if you bead blast them you get into every area of the calipers.

I can recondition those calipers for £95 a pair , and they would come back looking like new , and you can have them any colour you want
Cheers Ian

I wire brushed mine than coated them with brake caliper paint from Halfords.
I'd agree with Ian above, take them somewhere to get bead blasted before you paint them as the finish will be much better.

Also make sure you mask off the bleed nipples and pistons before you paint them.
