Do you think I'd regret getting Wagon ?
Hi all,
I've currently got a 1999, Turbo 2000 with about 59k on the clock.. but my doggy requires transport and I was thinking of exchanging my car for an estate ! Or Wagon as you call them :lol1: Do you think this would be a mistake ? |
I made a joint purchase of a classic Wagon with the wife (with a baby in mind). I originally wanted a saloon/coupe but she didn't like the big rear spoilers so I agreed to a compromise (no big deal as it's still the same car).
I actually grew to like the look whilst test-driving them. I wouldn't say I prefer it to a nice coupe but a Wagon with a few minor cosmetic tweaks is still on a par to me (except for the view from the rear). It's good as there seems to be fewer wagons around. |
Pimmo, I went from a MY97 wagon to a MY99 saloon (both turbo 2000) and actually prefered the wagon. There was no noticable difference in speed and the wagon seemed to handle a little better. I've now got a MY03 WRX wagon and am more than pleased with it, only draw back is that it seems a little slower but i think thats down to the added weight.

I prefer the wagon too, they seem to be even more fun handling. I like the practicality and the fact chavs turn their noses up at them :D

hm.. sounds good, all I need now is a swap.. no money so either money my way or a straight swap depending on Wagon !
I want one ideally already modded :) |
|
Get the real 'dog' option in a Forester turbo, either UK with the 'responsive' turbo or JDM with the same engine as the WRX wagons..

I have to say that I always wanted a saloon until I saw mine... see my scooby in my profile. I just love the look of the wagon very classy especially in white although I may be biased ;)
I did hear at the time that they are actually stiffer than the saloon, but if this really was the case then wouldn't we see them more in rallys so I really don't know? What I do know is that wagons have more chance of having any easy life... so finding a straight one is a little less of a minefield! It kind of falls into the 205GTI and the 309GTI rule book. Plums. |
I think there is a difference in how far the driver's seat will go back - I found I couldn't get as comfy in the wagon as the saloon. May just be me, but check before you change!
|
Also there is the potential for more exhaust boom due to the more open format of the car. I found it kicks in at around 75-80 mph which, as it is my motorway cruise speed, made the car a no-no. Again, check before you change.
