strange weird car

what could possibly cause the car to run great for the first few minutes every time its started up and then unable to pull over 2,500 (ish) rpm in every gear? MY99 turbo, prety much standard, No CEL codes, smoke, etc etc

Doesn't the ecu have a "get home mode" that restricts the revs in this manner. Sure someone more qualified than me will answer but it sounds like it believes there is a fault even if it isn't telling you at the dash. Can't think what else would restrict the revs in this manner.

The thing to change after the first few minutes is the Temperature, maybe the Sensor is faulty? - could be that fault sends the ECU into 'Limp-Home' Mode??

MAF sensor failure could do this and not give a CEL. Given it's an MY99 that makes it all the more likely also.

You don't happen to have an induction kit do you?

nah car is prety much standard apart from backbox, taking it into a garage tomorow, they rekon its more than likely the MAF too, and will try it with a new one to see if its any better, hopefully that will be it and back to business as usual!
