Help please. There seems to be some confusion over the correct tyre size when talking to suppliers. I thought the correct size was 225/40 x 18. Can someone please confirm.
I'm considering some OZ Prodrives and would also like a recommendation on tyre make. Thanks in advance for your help. Kev S |
Thats correct
<= MY'00 = 225x35 R18 >= MY'01 = 225x40 R18 Rgds, Alex |
Thanks Alex.
Any recommendation on tyres to go for. I've been offered Toyo's and Goodyear F1's at good prices. Kev S |

Hello,I've got 18"prodrive wheels on my My01 with 225/40 profiles I currently am looking at replacing the Pirelli p-zero rosso's for Toyo proxes T1'S as I have heard some v good reports on these. Sandman. |
Thanks Dave,
Anyone tried Goodyear F1's as I've been offered these at £40 cheaper than Toyo's Cheers. Kev S |
Tyre diameters:
Std MY01 215/45x17 = 626mm 225/35x18 = 615mm 225/40x18 = 637mm. As you will see, the 35 profile is a lower diameter than std, and the 40 is higher. Neither will make much difference in the real world - +/- less than 2%. I am running 35 section on my track tyres, and have run them on the road, and you will find some ride degradation due to the lower sidewall, however they do turn in better - horses for courses. As for makes of tyres, we ran a set of 40 profile Pzero rossos, which were ok in the dry and poor in the wet, replaced them with Toyos, which are very good. On mine, I have S03's which are up there with the best wet or dry. Used them on the Nov Brands track day and they were superb in teeming rain. [Edited by Dave T-S - 1/11/2002 1:18:50 PM] |
