Which Sony HDTV?
I am looking to purchase a Sony 40 inch Bravia HDTV. I will mainly be using the tv to watch normal Sky Digital (mainly for football) until more HD channels become available and normal TV. I will also be running a PS3 on the TV for games rather than for movies. I was thinking of either the KDL40-D3000 or the KDL40-W2000. I have read various reviews on both regarding there performances when watching normal SD tv and I getting conflicting information. Can anyone with experience advise me on which is better for my intended use.

The W2000 is rated pretty good - Get yourself over to AVForums Home and you'll get good info.
After many years with Sony I've decided against the Sony this time and I'm about to order a Samsung LE40M87 Bob |
I think you should try sampling some Plasmas first before investing teh best part of £800 in a LCD.
IMO I have issues with most LCDs that are over 32", the problems being the usual issues associated with LCD screens. The current generation Bravias are the better pick of the LCD crop but the prices are in Plasma territory. The main issue is you won't get 1080 resolution screen at that price in a Plasma, but seeing your only watch Sky TV, it wont be a necessity. The Panasonic and LG plasmas do go highly recommended. |
Ive got the 46w2000 and works very well on sd input

I cant get over the prices! £800 for a decent Sony LCD? Ive got a KDL40W, which cost £800 MORE than the KDL40V less than two years ago!

Morrisons (yes, Morrisons) are doing the KDL32U3000 for £499. Same sort of price you can get on the internet. Not bad though, packet of crisps, cereal and a TV please :D
