Do they reckon the garage may have passed on your details onto some undesirables (or is that just a bit of paranoia)?

dan83590 21 October 2007 10:47 AM

No idea, just thought it interesting.

dan83590 21 October 2007 11:07 AM

I wonder if they know something we don't?

speye91 21 October 2007 11:44 AM

I know how it feels mate, mine was taken 1 month ago.Broke into house for the keys.BASTAR DS.

Funny enough poilce asked the same question.

sportwagonred 21 October 2007 11:55 AM

If plod asked the question perhaps they have some info on someone in the local garage that may help? Obviously if you asked they'd not tell you who it was or where they work but one never knows could be of assistance as garages get visited by all sorts of sh1te. I remember one guy around chesterfield who would ride round the garages looking for a motor to nick to order, call into the garage speak to the mechanic and find out where the car lived before going round a couple of weeks later and nicking it.
Barsteward got his comeuppance in the form of 5years sentence, out in 2 1/2 when he proved a model prisoner, got locked up shortly after for GUESS WHAT another motor.

dan83590 21 October 2007 07:24 PM

For the evening shift. Please keep an eye out, although is expect that it has been stripped bare by now.

badgerface123 21 October 2007 07:32 PM

just out of interest what garage did your service dont like the sound of that?

dan83590 21 October 2007 07:39 PM

Can't divulge info like that. I'd get strung up too!

noobyscooby 21 October 2007 09:55 PM

Hope you don't have a problem claiming the insurance because you did not secure the garage. Always better if there has been a break-in if you know what I mean.

dan83590 21 October 2007 10:30 PM

I know, that was our thought too. Hope its okay!!

dan83590 21 October 2007 10:34 PM

Something I forgot to mention....

The police have said that if it is recovered they will be sending me a bill for £105.00. This was quoted at me just as I was reporting it stolen. Talk about double wammy. Fcking disgusting. Police aint worth a sh!t.

Your insurance would cover that cost anyway. The Police use recovery companies who would charge them and in turn they charge you. Its no drama to you at all and is normal. Just send the bill to your insurance company.

NAY TURBO 99 22 October 2007 08:46 PM

 W*****s hope you frt it back safe mate will keep em peeled for you

noobyscooby 22 October 2007 08:52 PM

In my experience you won't want the car back unless it has been recovered within a very few hours due to Tracker or somesuch. The vandals will have thrashed the living daylights out of it.

Your best bet now is for plod to find it torched or wrecked ASAP as that helps get the insurance claim underway pronto tonto, otherwise it can take a while as the insurers wait until they are reasonably sure it won't be found and will then argue over how much it wasn't worth!

dan83590 22 October 2007 10:10 PM

Your thoughts mirror my feelings. If it hasn't been stripped it will have been shagged to death. There’s no way I want it back.

Done the dreaded insurance phone call this morning. Some of the questions I was asked were a definite attempt to wriggle out of paying. Fcuking insurance companies are as bad as the criminals in my eyes. My advice is to understand that insurance companies are not there to provide the service of insurance, only to make money. When something like this happens there's a long queue of people waiting to fcuk you over, the criminals are just the first!

I presume it would have been crushed flat in order to stack another car on top when it was recovered.
