Spot the oil seal

Ok guys, I have an oil leak somewhere at the front of my engine. I am guessing its behind the cambelt somewhere because it's dripping on the manifold. I will not be attempting to fit this myself but to keep costs down I am sourcing the parts myself. Can anyone see from this diagram the seals that I would need order as I can't tell the difference between the seals and the covers. I assumed it would be like the rocker cover gaskets (i.e. 1 complete seal) but I can't find anything that resembles this here.
It's a 95 WRX, hope someone can help.

rocker cover gasket kit comes in about 10 parts,if its from the front centre then odds are its the front crank seal thats gone, not too hard to do just awkward as everything has to come out first ie timing belt

Sounds like a crank seal if it is the front. Can't see it on the diagram.

From what you say it’s probably the front crank shaft oil seal judging by the age of the car, and not worth getting your self because it’s under £15 let the garage do it that way you have the right parts for the job.

I would also consider the cam belt while it’s in pieces

Agree. Its a fiddly old job and as has been said, requires the cam belt to come off so deffo worth getting it changed at the same time. If you are mechanically confident/competant and youare so inclined then do it yourself. If not the would be well worth putting into a reputable garage and let them get skinned knuckles lol :D

Have already got the cam belt ready for the job so parts wise, I'm already half way there. Which one is the crank shaft oil seal and is there just one? Also what are the parts labled 13583 13581 13586 & 13594

Sorry, :iamwithst

Cant make out the numbers :wonder:

There is one crankshart seal (at the front of the engine anyway ;) ) which is in the centre of the oil pump. Four camshaft seal.

The timing belt cover is made up of 5 pieces iirc. the front cover sections have a rubber seal strip along the edges which keeps clag out of the timing belt and also stops it rattling.

There are quite a few bolts holding the cover on for which you will need a 10mm spanner/socket. I found it extremly helpful to remove the radiator and fan assembly too as this gives you quite a bit more room.
You will need a 24mm socket and a large T-Bar to remove the crank pully wheel. This is generally quite tight. I had to rig a brace set up in the holes in the pully wheel to hold it ( two large screwdrivers inserted into the holes and a bar braced across them so I could get enough leverage to undo the camshaft bolt)

HTH
