I'm off to visit a friend an Germany next month, and we're planning to spend a day at the Nurburgring. Me in my Scooby and he's got a Smart (interesting choice for a track car!).
I heard a rumour a while ago that my car insurance (with the RAC) may be valid on the Nurburgring as it is officially a public road, albeit a one-way toll road. Does anyone know if this is the case? or should I investigate a one day insurance plan? |
Jack
When we went to the Ring last year our existing insurance policy covered us as it included European cover and as you rightly point out the Nurburgring is a German public road. If you're unsure I'd check with your insurance provider. :) Sal |
Jack - Sal,as usual, is correct ;) ... however most insurance companies INSIST on them being informed that the vehicle is off mainland Britain...

OK, I need to let them know I'm off to Germany anyway. Should I specifically mention the Nurburging? I'm just a bit nervous they'll get nervous and refuse, but then I guess if I NEED their cover (errmm!) They're more likely to object if I haven't told them.
Best cough to it now ! Cheers Jack |
put it this way I told them I was in Europe but not on the 'ring - its just anuvver road ;)
