What turbo for 380BHP

My mate has just had his engine rebuild in his 2001 STI with forged pistons new crank etc. He has found a crack near the wastegate so has dicided to fit a new turbo along with the other mods needed for approx 380 brake. He has looked at the modifed garrett turbo but just wondered what else is out there.

I've had 380bhp from a MD321H at relatively low boost on a 2.5ltr so would expect similar power levels on a 2.0ltr, albeit with less torque.
Boost threshold should be fairly good too with the AVCS heads on the STi.

Cheaper alternative to the MD for that sort of power would be TD05 18G/20G.
Both more than capable of making that power and reasonably priced.

Cheers Guys, what is spool up/lag like on theTD05 18G/20G.

I hated the lag on the 20g and quickly swapped it for the 18G from Andy F. To be honest spool was very similar to the standard VF35 with mods to compliment (ported headers)

Yeah did wonder if it was a bit laggy. I have tried to call Andy but as yet no response, must be out Mapping.

Dont get me wrong it was a flier once on boost but to give you an example there is a sharp left turn near where I live with a relatively short incline. I had to change in to first every time to get up it otherwise the car would practically stall.

The 18 is far easier to live with and on the road there is very little to chose from between the two. The 18G is without doubt the best all rounder for me.
