You have £1000 what do you buy for your car?

As title.
I was chatting to a mate the other day and started on the "I just want to do this, then that etc" Did a mental check and was tallking about a grands worth of stuff.
So what would you spend your hypothetical grand on?

The Hoff 08 October 2007 12:37 PM

I would put it towards a MD321H

simog 08 October 2007 01:30 PM

I'm interested in this too. I will have a grand to play wih on my classic WRX and I can't decide if it should be performance or cosmetic. I guess it is personal taste but I would be interested to see opinions here!

Borat_Drives_A_Scooby 08 October 2007 01:31 PM

A re map and sort the induction out.

filfy 08 October 2007 01:38 PM

Spend it on e brakes, should get change out of a grand for second hand APs,or put the grand towards new APs and braided lines:D

Rubberscooby 08 October 2007 01:40 PM

I over spent a bit. I priced up a version 6 sti rear spoiler, Vortex afterburner exhaust and some Rota tarmac 2 alloys & tyres. Came to just under 1300. :D

I'd buy an Apexi PowerFC and a few hours on the rollers :)

Mr Footlong 08 October 2007 04:08 PM

Well, here's a little story about how stupid I am. I started a thread about upgrading the brakes on my car for a grand or less a couple of months ago. That soon went to £1600. Then I got a new stereo, then bluetooth, then a new turbo, then new injectors, then a new air intake system, then a new clutch & flywheel, then a new fuel regulator, then head tank spacers, then whiteline goodies, then a new uppipe, then a trip to Len and Bob and more and more and more......

Congrats on entering the slippery slope of 'tailoring your scoob' :D

NAY93WRX 08 October 2007 04:18 PM

Flaps 08 October 2007 05:26 PM

Lol, that sucks mate :(. I am getting mine installed before the final remap on the 20th as I had a feeling the old one might give problems during mapping, the price did it's best to kick me in the crotch tho.

AndyC_772 08 October 2007 08:46 PM

In my case, during the month I've owned the car: new brakes, new suspension, new exhaust, service, refurbished wheels and a full valet.

v8voodoo 09 October 2007 04:19 PM

Prodrive driving day £250.
If its standard, centre decat, centre straight pipe and backbox c£400
Better stereo and speakers £300.
Decent air filter £50

Personally, having done the above (sort of) it'd be...

Tints £200
Track day £150?
Prodrive springs & fitting £450?
Set of Colway winter tyres £200

Or having seen the MY08 STi in silver, possibly towards a deposit....

Baker 10 October 2007 08:32 PM

Im spending about a grand at present just doing mechanical things!

New Clutch (Exedy Organic from API) £385.00
Clutch Fitting £250
Cambelt supplied and fitted £200
Remap and sort overboost problem £200
Spark Plugs £34.00
Oil (Mobile One 0w40 10 litres) £60.00
Oil Filter/Fuel Filter/Air Filter (from GGR) £24.00 (seems a bargain!)

Things seem to add up really quick, the list does not include some of the cosmetic things ive bought like new fog light covers, side lights etc, not to mention the fact I want to have a full respray as im a fussy one, and while im at it maybe a set of new alloys , not that it is needed as the current 18's have just had a refurb!

Think I need to go rob a bank:lol1:

slipstream_uk 10 October 2007 08:39 PM

I would blow it on handling and brakes. Whats the point of having all that power if you haven't got a good base to start from.
