**Will a Subaru Garage charge me to diagnose a problem**

I purchased a bugeye from a Subaru showroom a while back and it is no longer under warranty.

When driving over bumps or turning corners i can hear squeaking noises from the back wheel (difficult to determine exactly which wheel). It started a while back and has gotten worse and now happens with almost every slight bump i go over. (its the type of squeaking youd think a spray of WD40 would sort!)

I took it to a few local mechanics and they couldnt diagnoise the problem. One said i may need the springs changing.

If i take it back to the subaru showroom i bought it from will they charge me for diagnosing the problem??

thanks

They'll probably charge you a diagnostics fee, 1hr labour, about £75+vat depending on dealer, or just wait for something to fall off.

any ideas what this squeaking/creaking noise could be. As iv said its been up on the ramp and mechanics didnt detect anything

have you tried getting some one to bounce the car up and down whilst you listern underneath, its certainly cheaper and thats what subaru will do.

i could do that i suppose but im sure il still be unable to identify the problem

Squeaking rear....shocks, common fault on Scoobs

second to shocks. You know if its blown if the car bounces when you try to rock it.

do as youve suggested and spray the rear drop link bushes and anti roll bar bushes with some wd40. the do go dry after a while. I give mine a squirt every 2 or 3 months

quick thread hijack (sort of).....wheres the best place to jack the car up at the rear to do the above?
