hesitation below boost please help
Hi again guys, ive been serching for days about this problem on the forum and cant find anything, ive read about the boost solenoid when the boost flickers but my car seems to be hesetent when at about 40 mph in say in third at about 2500rpm when i gently press the accelorator it holds back then starts to pick up and then holds back and so on untill like 3200rpm, it does this in all gears between this rpm but it is intermitant, as in it just does it sometimes, some more than others, it does this only when the car is at normal working temp just worried as im goin to get the car re-mapped at powerstation in 2 weeks and want to overcome the fault before i go... btw the car is a 2000plate uk turbo with 49000miles and has an uprated fuel pump full de-cat system and a k+n panel filter....

Have you checked all the usual things,
turbo hoses, boost solenoid, maf sensor, spark plugs, coil packs. What fuel are you using ? |
i have just changed the maf sensor and plugs and i use optimax fuel the next on my list was to clean the solenoid had a look at a few posts on doing it but alll seems a bit vague, how easy is it to do? im just really hoping that its not the clutch but i cant see it as the problem only happens sometimes and not when the car is at full boost... is this a common problem or not?

How to clean boost solenoid: to clean it properly disconnect the two pipes with ignition off connect together the 2 green plugs under steering column spray brake cleaner in the 2 ports on boost sol turn ignition on the boost sol should start clicking at regular intervals and the rad fan starts up keep spraying brake cleaner until it runs clear turn off ignition disconnect green plugs reconnect pipes job done. |
Have you also tried a ecu reset, I know its a stab in the dark
How to re-set your ECU unit. NOTE: This is only applicable to MY93-00 (GCA) models. The later model MY01 (GDA) onwards require the use of a product such as the DeltaDash or similar to reset the ECU. Please see ECUTEK - Delta Dash for more information. ECU clear memory procedure is as follows for auto and manual transmissions: 1. With engine at operating temperature, turn engine off. Place gear shift lever into park (auto transmission cars only) 2. Locate the two ECU check connectors, for most cars they are located under the steering column and consist of a black plastic male and female connector, and a green male female connector. The exact location of the connectors varies with the different year models, but generally they are located under the steering column on the drivers side. NOTE: sometimes they are still taped over with some small amount of plastic tape, so look hard, they will be there! With the ignition OFF connect black to black and green to green. 3. Turn on ignition, do not start the engine, (and for auto transmission, cycle the gearshift lever from park to neutral and back to park ), depress the accelerator pedal to full throttle and hold for a few seconds, and then release. Start engine and then drive for at least one minute, keeping road speed above 11 Km/h. 4. ECU is now re-set. 5. At this point the check engine light should start to flash the all clear signal (steady 1/2 second interval flashes). If the check engine light does not flash, or indicates some other sequence, there is a fault present in the system, and should be professionally checked for necessary repairs. 6. Once, stop the car and turn off the engine. 7. Disconnect the plugs. 8. Job complete |
i got a very similiar problem :cry:
all help greatly appriecated :notworthy i have a 1999 uk turbo full decat green panel filter forge dump valve boost controller (like dawes) all been fitted an running without fault for 6months+ ive ordered a new maf not getting til monday but not 100% its the cause of this fault :wonder: recently replaced lambda after cel came on a few times did ecu reset check gave oxygen sensor fault so replaced the lambda and repeated reset no faults showing but now got this hesitation between 2-3k but intermintent :brickwall please help us???:thumb: |

cleaned the boost sol today and no difference, my dad seems to think its the plugs as my car seems to be running rich i.e popping and banging alot

right guys im still having this problem think im goin to change the plugs tomorrow even tho i have just done them using denso plugs i have read some bad reviews on them tho, do u think i should go for the NGK PFR7B helm me lol....

Change the plugs, and if its a manifold coil car the HT leads as well......

set the sparks to 0.7 gap

changed the plugs and still no difference, im just going to go to powerstation for the re-map next week and see if that helps as i think the car is running so rich... ill let you know the results

u had the remap yet? did it solve hesitation probs??
i got similair prob so would be grateful for all help especially if its a good excuse to remap my scooby! :norty:
