FELLOW SCOOB OWNERS - TAKE NOTICE:-

Imagine, early (9:00 am)Sunday 3rd December 2000, neighbour is washing red 4 door Scoob and two blokes walk up his drive (about 100 yards off main road) and say 'We've come for the car'. Try to steal it from him and are beaten off by a few house bricks.

Two days later neighbour wakes up at 4:00 am and hears a noise on the roof. 20 minutes later two burglars smash open his conservatory to get to car keys.

Didn't get them as neighbour chased blokes away with a shot gun!

The noise he heard earlier on the roof was these guys CUTTING his telephone wires.

It appears that car alarms and security are quite advanced and it is easier to steal the car when the owner is either in it or wait till they are asleep and brake in to get keys.

Anyway, thought you may be interested/disturbed by this, and car is now locked away from house in lorry in a trading estate.

PS When I park mine at night I think I will enlarge front door and have car in living room (Wife will love it!).

Heard that one was taken by breaking into house in near Skipton, North Yorks.

Its becoming a far too common occurance. Thats how mine was taken. Thankfully I got it back a couple of hours later ~ Zero damage, and only a handfull of mines on the clock.

You can secure your Scoob all you like ~ but scum will take it if they REALLY want to.

This is most concerning, having just seen my STI premium go through the roof I'm not suprised.

THERE OUR CARS, WE SAVED UP FOR THEM. PAID FOR THEM, SERVICE THEM AND INSURE THEM. Then you scumbags go and steal them.

If any thieves are reading this. Impreza's are not as good to drive as we all make out. Infact you are much better off stealing another make of car. Afterall, who wants to nick what is basically a Japanese farmers car.

Some how I don't think my above statement will deter them.

I'm suprised the police did not arrest the guy who chased them off with a shot gun for threatening behaviour with a dangerous weapon!!

I think I will leave my company car keys on the dining room table and hide my Impreza keys in future.

As a frequent reader (but infrequent poster) I feel I would just like to add that some form of stiffer sentencing really is in order for these mindless w&nkers. T Blair continually pushes the line of getting tough on crime, but still haven't seen/heard of any improvements yet. Plus you can't really trust the government statistics when it comes to crimes cos how many go unreported now?!?! How can it have got to the stage where people now feel it is futile to report crimes?

I recently heard someone say that by increasing the sentances/more severe punishments for ciminals, that their (the criminals) families were also effectively victimised and suffered?!!! I couldn't believe the person was actually saying this: If these people are so selfish and stupid as to commit the crimes in the first place, then why the hell shouldn't the families suffer. It is that persons own selfishness that caused the problem in the first place...

Ok, rant over now.

When are WE going to just say 'NO MORE'. It has happened to me earlier this year and I WILL NOT let it happen again. I have camaras on the side of my house and in my garage, sensors in the garage, alarms on the house and garage and a large baseball bat in the bedroom (no not the wife). I just pity the poor bast*** who attempts it now. I would have no hesitation in teaching the young scamp a lesson. I even have cable ties upstairs aswell to bind the old hands together. I would dump him in the car,drive several miles into the country, knock him out and then actually run the fukcer over...and if he does not make it then the world would be that much ligher without him and I would not loose anys sleep at all!

I was reading somewhere yesterday and the headline was "Government to get tough on car crime". I naturally thought excellent - they are actually going to try to stop the increasing problem of car theft.
But no!!!! they are going to get tough on people who speed, or park illegally.

Hmm.. glad this poxy government have got their priorities right!

(just want to add that I only condone speeding in the right place, right conditions and in the right car).

and to top it all off, a few weeks ago my front bumper was stolen off my car whilst it was sitting on my drive.

A week later the police come round and accuse me of stealing my new front bumper from another car!!

At least they are following up reports of stolen parts from cars I suppose though...

Tony Blair is VERY tough on crime and the causes of crime! 2 years ago if you were stupid enough to damage somebodies pride and joy you would receive a caution. Now you would receive a reprimand.Do it again and then you would have gone to court. Now you would be subject of a Final Warning. Which is a very very bad telling off. Do it again and you may go to court. But after a second tellling off I doubt if any body will ever end up in court, don't you!

No I was genuine ~ it really was only a handfull of mines. Less than 20. I'd filled up that night and reset the trip. It went from my house to the centre of town, and was outside the house of the dimwits who'd nicked it.

Along with another car that they'd used.

I'm not willing to say where I keep my keys at night. But the mobile is by my bed.

Whats the point of working ya nutz off when some juvenile comes and steals it from under your noise with a knife in his hand.

Of the 5 who flat-packed my front door, 4 of then were juveniles.

If they come for mine and the wife & kids are in doors then they get the keys, and a torch to help them find their way, if they come and the wife and kids are away, most of the school holidays then you can bet your ar5e that if they get the keys then at least 1 of them will need hospital food for a long long time, a good friend now makes sure when he parks his Escort Cossie over night that its well in to the red on the fuel gauge, his theory is that if there is not much fuel they will dump it close by or go to a garage and fill it up, which means they will get caught on camera there.

Personal I would like to use the old Game Keepers trick, animals that steal eggs, kill game etc when caught at left strung up when dead as a deterant to others, smell etc, but if we could dismember a bit of scum and leave it hanging in the garage [or where ever] it will stop the next batch of scum, would you steal a car if you see the dismembered body of the last bit of scum that tried ??

Surprisingly enough I am very safe with guns....been shooting for about 32 years - since I was in the army cadets - had a go of a Bren gun - that was fun!!

It strikes me that you are going to have to be prepared to out-crim the crims to get one up. They have nothing to loose, we have everything to loose, so, unless you are a psycho you will come out worse off.
So, in summary, stay lucky, as soon as you are a target, no matter the outcome, you will be worse off. This is the society we live in.

The most worrying thing is, that when the Firearms officer came round to check me out he told me if I shoot anyone they would take my gun away - didn't mention anything about life sentences etc.....
