i've got a 2002 bugeye uk wrx.standard form was told has 215bhp, the car has been fitted with a full 3"decat system last week and it was on the rolling road today and it put out 231bhp,the noise is more deeper/louder than standard and more responsive imho.had the car remapped to the tune of £600 today and now puts out 270bhp so well happy.

I have a 2001 wagon and it has had 2nd decat, panel filter and remap by JGM and it made 250bhp and 238 ft/lb on rollers.

powerwrx,

My experience is with a decat’ed standard OEM center pipe on a MY03 WRX which will be _very_ similar to an aftermarket decat.

New age cars seem to have lost the noticeable Scooby ‘burble’ on tick over compared to my old MY00 classic. The decat’ed center pipe brought it back.

‘Normal’ performance doesn’t feel that much different. Although the car does seem to be slightly happier above 5500RPM to the red line. Given that I don’t rag the car through the gears every time I drive it I didn’t feel this gave much more every-day performance. With that said if you want the occasional race off the lights then it will seem a little quicker because you can hold on to each gear for a few more revs.

In summary, Scooby ‘burble’ will be back and very slightly better at high revs.

Decat'ing the downpipe, now that will feel and sound different ;-)
