Diagnostic port??? Type R V4
Hi all, after some cleaning i discovered that my car Sti type R v4 has some sort of 'port' what is it for its located under the steering wheel.
Is it for plugging into the ecu?? Cheers |
Classic Impreza's don't have a serial diagnostic port, could it be of the alarm?
|
nah it dont appear to be.... strange as it is part of the interior if you get me, its bult in not an addition.
Anybody else got one on their type r? |
yes i have,i thought it was the obd2 port,on my astra it was under the handbrake trim, looks identical
|
hmmm strange, ive posted it on the type-r-ra see if those guys know
|
All imprezas have a serial diagnostic port.
v1 and v2's are a yellow 9-pin plug taped up against the steering column, which doesn't conform to the OBD2 standards. v3's onwards have the 16-pin OBD2 connector in the trim under the steering wheel. |
wow lol - so its used only for fault codes and seeing how engine is doing then?
|
Andrew Carr (who posts on here, at least I think it is his site anyway!) has an excellent description of what can be done with it on his website:
Subaru ECU Monitor On later model cars it can be used to reflash the ECU, but on v3/v4 cars it is really only used for serial diagnostics, as you describe. |
Scooby monitor wow lol- can this be bought or is it a kit?
|
i know this is an old thread but will my car have a 9 pin port thinking of getting one of these as have a few odbII readers
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1305418268...84.m1423.l2649 oh it's a v1 sti with v2 sti v-limeted running gear |
See post 6........the port is not OBD II compliant.
