Fun KA

Been doing some browsing recently and stumbled upon some KA conversions involving putting the 1.7 engine out of a Puma into one. I always liked the KA as it handled pretty well, it just didn't have any guts.. A 1.7 might cure that!

Anyone know or have experience with these "engine swap" kind of cars? Are they super hard to insure? Reliabilty? Would a 1.7 in the nose of a KA ruin the handling?

A friend of mine has one with an escort rs turbo engine in it :D It's only 180bhp but it's rapid!

A Passion For Power they do the 1.7 puma engine conversion in the KA, give them a bell, they'll give you all the info you need

Hi Paul,

More rapid than our old Legacy? (either in standard spec or after you tweeked it!!) ;)

Have you still got your Sierra Cossy? Still standard or is it now pushing more ponies??

He bought the KA after I'd sold the Legacy so it's hard to say. The KA doesn't weigh much though.

I've still got the Cosworth thanks :D It's still looking standard but it isn't anymore :lol1: It's had a panel filter, group A coil, 4x4 intercooler, -31 actuator & a live remap so it's now running 1.5 bar :D I've done lots of other things to it though. Here are some recent photos of it.

Then at the weekend I cut the front out of the airbox :D

Have you still got the MX5?

tallsteve 04 October 2007 07:16 PM

Yep, still have the MX - which is a great car and a lot of fun to drive but I'm beginning to get itchy feet AGAIN... I'm sure you know the feeling! :)

Not sure to go for another MX5 (probably a jap import, 6 speed box and bracing) or something a bit "different" (hence the KA talk) or more frugal (but still fun) Fabia VRS.

The Cossy looks fantastic BTW, super clean inside (Dash looks brand new!) and I'm sure that at 1.5bar it has "spirited" performance ;)

Paulo P 04 October 2007 07:32 PM

Are you bored of the power of the MX5? If so you could always fit a turbo or supercharger :D

My cossie should be producing around 295bhp but with 320lbft of torque, 2 wheel drive and 1200kgs it makes life interesting :D

Pumaspeed Ka should be interesting!
