Shell or BP?

Hi everyone,

Which would you say is better - Shell V-Power or BP....Ultima fuel..not sure the octane 99 or? I am also not sure on Tesco 99 Octane, it never seems to last long!!!!

Which gives better performance and fuel economy?

Would you recommend a fuel additive??

My car is a 55 STI Type UK..

Cheers

BP is not good. B Rawle made this comment. Shell is OK & is 97 Ron. I'm all for Tesco 99 as it's 99 Ron + cheap too :)

Ah, you may be right! Perhaps it's BP that's 97, Shell that's 98 & Tesco that's 99 ... sorry!

When I was in Wales earlier in the year I had no option but to use Vpower and at the pump it still read 98 Ron so I then popped to Halfords for an octane booster.

Are you sure its 99?

Sorry dude!!

From Shells site.

"In developing Shell V-Power we have built on the highly successful performance platform achieved with Shell Optimax. Shell V-Power is designed to provide even higher levels of performance and bring drivers further enhancements in responsiveness. The improved formulation features higher octane (99 RON), higher detergency and use of Shell's unique Friction Modification Technology, as used by the Ferrari Formula One team in its 2006 Race fuels."

Dependent on brand they're range from £5.00 upwards of £12 per bottle.

Intersting, the Golf was a GTI, The Scoob a WRX, The Clio was that an ordinary one??

Have I got the models right?

Or look at this graph showing 5 fuels properly tested in the same car on the same rollers :)

Was done in the days of Optimax, but clearly shows Tesco 99 really aint that bad at all, even producing more top end punch than all the others.

One of the best tests I have seen, however, sadly not on a scooby.
