im only 24 and driving a 2006 STI so insurance is a pain in the arse, but if you could give me a list of good companies who aint going to break the bank then that would be great! thankyou.

ethanrob 03 October 2007 01:53 PM

was gonna surgest A-plan,but they wont insure you as your under 25!

When its near to the end of your existing premium, give Chris Knott a look at: chrisknott.co.uk Or give them a call on: 0800 9172274 and tell them your a friend of mine (Glen Hawkins) and quote reference number 480 and you should get a good quote from them :)

TopBanana 03 October 2007 02:37 PM

Try confused.com or tesco compare

They wont insure me with mods

Mikkel 03 October 2007 07:51 PM

I'm with Privilige now, but tried Tesco compare t'other evening and Tesco themselves came out above Privilige by nearly £150. Quoted me £550 but I am an old timer at 30 :)

So I shall be trying them again when it's due for renewal but will also try A-plan after reading this thread.

I looked on Tesco compare earlier, I didn't type anything else as it said something about if your car is modified, they can't help you! :(

Yep,he insured my '96 wrx with all mods declared for just over £500 fully comp :notworthy Best price I could get elsewhere was around £900 without mods declared :nono:

Give Gary a call before you do anything else and see what he can do. You will find his details in the Insurance section.

Whatever you do,stay away from More Than insurance. Just insured my Mondeo ST24(second car) with them, could hardly understand what they were saying on the phone and when the policy came through the post almost every detail was wrong, took 2 days to get it sorted because they wanted to charge me for change of details :wonder: They were very cheap though but I just hope I never have to deal with them over a claim !!

Me too and found they are ok with a few small modifications also.

Kjartan 03 October 2007 11:39 PM

I'm so relieved that I dont live in the UK.. here in Iceland it doesnt matter how old you are or how modified your car is and the car is insured and everyone can drive it.. no problems
and I'm paying about £630 a year

magicgreg 03 October 2007 11:41 PM

I'm 23 with 3 years NCB and 3 points on my licence and I am paying £1250 for a 2007 STi with full exhaust, front splitter and alloys all declared.

Thats with Bell, part of the Admiral Group.

chocolate_o_brian 04 October 2007 06:26 AM

ecar, 23 no ncb, less than two years on license, £1750, due for renewal in december this year. everyone else wanted £3000+

EOEUMC 04 October 2007 08:47 AM

I pay £360 fully comp. Protected and partner on insurance. That is with all mods declared, but I am older than most on here :thumb:

Mikkel 04 October 2007 09:26 AM

It's usually cheaper if you add your missus to your policy (or mum if you is a batty boy), as apparently they are less risk... no sexism there then. You can save a couple of hundred adding them as a second driver, just don't actually let em drive :lol1:
