Starter Motor....Help!

Can I ask that you please dont laugh at me too much!
I am wondering where the starter motor would be located on my GF's 98 RX Impreza, I need to remove it and take it in for a swap, but I have no idea where to look for it. Stupid ? I know but any help would be good. Pics even better :notworthy Thanks!!!

Thanks so much, is it tricky to remove? Any tips or things to watch out for?

disconnect battery..

undo 12mm iirc nut that holds the positiive power on.. remove trigger wire spade connector

undo 14mm headed bolt that goes through gearbox to engine and holds start motor on.. undo 17mm nut.. be surprized how much it weighs..

Thanks so much for that! IBut I have a dilemma...I have replaced the starter motor and it will not start still! It is definately not the battery as I have checked/swapped this as well. Over the last couple of months when starting it has been taking longer and longer to kick over until last night it just didnt start at all. No clicking or anything... Any ideas guys?:wonder:

*UPDATE*
Checked for fault codes...Nothing

I took the steering column covers off so I could check the ignition and immobilizer thingy, on the reverse side ( opposite where you insert the key) the is a round module with 4 thick wires soldered to the back. I undid the screw above this and shuffled the round thing back and forth, tightened it back up and Bingo!!! She started! Cleaned all the dust out & put it all back together. Started it back up 5-6 more times and alls good!:luxhello:
