Track Day Wheels.

At the moment am thinking about getting some cheap wheels to use on track days. Am running 17" at the moment but for track day wheels do they need to be 17" again or could i get away with 16"???

And one know what the off set or what ever its called on a 1997 wrx turbo

Hi, it's called "PCD" would guess at 100 on yours, but loads of info on here. I use 16's and 17's on track on a 04 WRX. cosmetics aren't an issue and if you're not too serious about times, then it's best using what ever is economical. Technically 16's should accelarate quicker (lower circumference) than 17's but doubt you'd notice.

Good luck!

17's should give you a wider option of tyre sizes as its a more popular size. Its possible to get about the same or lower overall rolling circumference on 17's as 16's so acceleration won't be affected. Seen a 2nd hand set of wheels at my local garage (RASP) if you're interested, got worn tyres too but will fine for the track.

if you get same size as your current wheels, you can keep your old tires for track days.
Another advantage I found is that I use one of my spare track day wheel as spare instead of the provided replacement wheel (not sure it does apply to my97)
