Highway Code New rules

I see the Highway Code has finally been updated

it has doubled in size, and contains 29 new rules

"A major change is the code's inclusion of smoking at the wheel as behaviour that police may interpret as a distraction and failure to be in proper control of the vehicle"

I wonder if they have also included eating, shaving, mapreading, putting make up on, changing cd's, talking to your passengers (in fact they have included that one) too as they are all as distracting if not more than smoking

WTF!!!!!!

How on earth can they even think they can police this... In my eyes a total waste of money the paper is printed on

More noddy legislation from a noddy government. :cuckoo:

David Lock 28 September 2007 09:24 AM

They should include changing the time on the clock whilst driving :)

I was doing this the other day after a battery change and had my arm through the steering wheel and suddenly needed to go around a corner. Took me a second or two to realise that the wheel wouldn't turn with my arm stuck in the way!! :D

Yeah perfectly safe to be taking drugs while you drive not to mention having something that is perfectly capable of burning through clothes and skin. Smoking should be encouraged in cars!

Irrational junkies

So does that mean there were only 29 rules originally if its doubled in size? Going off some of the driving Ive witnessed I'd guess so :D

It now also contains the rules in 6 different languages (English has been removed so as not to offend any ethnic groups) hence the doubling in size :thumb:

:lol1:

Apparently another new rule is keeping both hands on the steering wheel

Dont show off or compete with other drivers
Dont let your passengers distract you or encourage you to take risks as you are responsible for their safety

Switch your engine off if stationary for for than a few mintues

What about all those distracting billboards and advertising at the side of the road, are they going to take all those down too ?

what about wimmins in summer with their little short skirts and tiny cropped tops............... errr..... what was I saying..............mmmmm........ I did have a point to make............MMmmmm boobies!

Ahhh yeah...

This can be distracting for some men. I think women should be made to dress head to toe in black. We'll allow them a small slit in the head dress so they can see out of, kind souls that we are :thumb:

This guy is an absolute genius.

But I agree, people smoking two cigarettes at once while driving should feel the full brunt of the law :D

Most women already dress like that in certain parts of the country ;) :D

A good start would be to ensure that the 90% of drivers on the road that don't know the current rules, learn them (especially keeping left on the motorway when not overtaking) before inventing new ones!

Light a ciggy while driving is dangerous, last time I tried it I nearly spilt my beer :(

Non +Plus Member 28 September 2007 09:48 AM

Cue - one of my favourite old jokes..........

A trucker was steaming down middle lane of motorway when he sees a motorbike in his mirror in the fast lane coming alongside him.

Biker reaches truck and starts banging on truck driver's window. Biker is waving a roll-up and asking for a light.

Truck driver leans out and screams above the noise "You're going to fecking kill yourself you know"

To which biker shouts back "No, I don't think so - I only smoke a couple a week!" :D

They haven't changed since at least 1986. I reckon I could have stopped my first car, a 1974 Ford Escort (drum brakes all round), in less than 315 ft at 70, let alone my Scoob.

Those figures are a complete loads of rollocks.
