Direct Line & Windscreens

Hi,

not too sure if I am allowed to do this:

Had a car that I own sitting on the drive - somebody bricked the side window  but the car wasn't insured.

Given the company car back so need to have use of mine - got it insured today and I wanted to know:

Can I call up Direct Line and get my side window done under the insurance (obviously paying the £50 excess) or as it wasn't insured at the time of breakage - do I have to pay the full amount?

Thanks guys :)

Well done for encouraging fraud..

If the damage occurred when no cover was in force for the vehicle pre-existing damage would not be covered by your new Insurer.

All Insurers will regard an attempt to present a claim for pre-existing damage as fraudulent activity.

Unfortunately, as you were not Insured at the time it means that you'll have to pick up the cost of the pre-existing damage.

Kind regards

Tony

You could probably get a second hand window off of Ebay for £50 (same as your excess cost) and you wouldn't have to attempt to risk getting caught for insurance fraud
