What turbo for 340bhp?

Ideally wanting to get my car to around 340-350 bhp, Its a V2 STi.
Just wondering what turbo would be best suited to the job. At the moment it has the standard TD05.
Any comments welcome
Cheers Marcus

The TD05 could be stretched that far with supporting mods.

spend the money saved on the turbo on new coil packs and plugs etc..

tend to find the biggest downfall with the earlier car is the age of some of the parts and the general maintence of the car.

Cheers guys thats what I was hoping you would all say.

So what else would people suggest to get to 340/350 bhp.
Already I have: Induction kit, decat (downpipe on its way) ported headers and up pipe (both heat wrapped), boost controller and a HKS ecu.
Obviously I know that what ever else needs to be fitted, then its gonna need mapping again.

Cheers again
Marcus

Also, who maps HKS ecu's around the South Yorkshire area?

Jolly Green Monster 26 September 2007 08:35 PM

injectors, fmic, fuel pump.

I think the Racing line does HKS....

Marx Mcrae 26 September 2007 09:24 PM

You cant map it yourself then?

Jolly Green Monster 26 September 2007 09:29 PM

not HKS no.. unless you have the software and lead.. believe HKS want 11k to allow you to become a dealer

or instead of a FMIc, get a newage STi intercooler .... And modify to fit :thumb:

And you'll then need a bigger scoop also as this is a big part of why the newage sti intercooler is so good. Also a new custom underbonnet tray to direct the air through the sti top mount. Without the tray and scoop it will be rather poor intercooler. Essentially it will cost you a lot more to do this than fit a FMIC, but you'll have slightly less lag.

no need to do reg with decent 550s for power figure mentioned.

newage sti intercooler won't fit on a v2 without a lot of work..v3~v6 is easy fit in comparison.
need to change the inlet manifold to v3/4 and the tps will cause a problem with hks ecu I believe as the v2 has 4wire and v3/4 3.. apexi, link etc don't care about the 4th wire.

Marx Mcrae 29 September 2007 11:21 AM

I'll just fit a fmic then, sounds like a hell of a lot less hastle

too right on a v1/v2
