99-00 ECU confusion? STI? PPP? EcuTek?

I don't have much experance with 99-00 models but my brother inlaw has just bought another scoob. Its a 99-00 UK car, same as his last one that he sold to his brother. Its had quite a bit of work done and is fairly rapid but its still on the TDO4 so I wanted to find out what had been done to it and if possible transfer the map from that onto his brothers car.

I data logged it on the laptop and its defiantly been remapped. It came up as an AE802 same as a standard uk 99-00 but when I lifted the kick plate it had an STI sticker on it with various code numbers on it but no mention of AE802.

It looks like it had a PPP pack on it has the Prodrive hose is on the bottom of the intercooler so could the sticker on the ECU just be becuase its been PPP'd? I would've expected it to be a Prodrive sticker not a STI.

Its hitting 1.1 bar peak (@ 3450rpm) 1st-3rd and 1.2bar in 4th and 5th so looks more aggressive than anything Prodrive would do so I'mguessing its been EcuTek'd but why the STI label on the ECU?

Also anyone know what flashblock connectors are needed so I can suck the map and take a look? I've only ever played with 01-05 ECU's.

there is nothing to suck the code out of 99~00.. believe the kernal code doesn't exist, unless someone has written it very recently.

Hi Simon, cheers for the info.

Bugger, didn't realise they hadn't cracked the JECS kernal yet, I just assumed it had been done same time as the denso's. :(

no as the classic was never released in US they haven't worked on it..

Being an EcuTek dealer I can plug in and tell you if it has been mapped and when and who by.. but you know it has already :)

Wow, an EcuTek dealer indeed.

Haven't been about much on here lately and didn't realize you'd gone all professional.

Good luck to ya mate.

lol...

You can suck the code out using ECuExplorer using the ecuquery option.
As I donwload my PE TEK3 map and saw how little they had done compared to a TEK2 map.

You can then change it, if you know where to look.
The 'BIG' problem is you can't Flash it back in again unless you use ECUTEK.
no-one appears to of 'Cracked' that bit yet.

P.S The PPP ECU is an STi ECU remapped by Prodrive.

P.P.S You only need the Tactrix cable (or equivelent) to download the map.

Cheers Scott,

Do any connections need to be made under the dash other than the green test plugs? (like the flashblock connection on the MY01-06's)?

I was logging with EcuExplorer but tried the ECUflash to suck it without much luck will try the ecuquery option next time I see it.

Just ECUQuery on Explorer IIRC I set the Start Address to 0
