Best to find out what was put in it at the last service and top up with the same or nearest you can find of the same grade.
If not, check your manual: probably full synthetic 5W/40 or 10W/40. Everyone recommends a different brand - Silkolene, Millers, Shell Helix ..., but some cars don't like Castrol Magnatec. |
i use castrol rs 10w60,never had no probs with that so far, touch wood and all that.

As said, in an ideal world you need to top up with what ever make/grade is already in there as different companies use different additives/chemicals.
With regards to grades of oils or brands, everyone seems to use different ones and most garages/turners will recommend something different!!!! I've used Motul V300 15-50 for the last four years and I'm now using silkolene Pro R 15-50, only reason i've changed is Pro R come in 5 litre containers instead of the 2 litres that motul use plus I can get it locally instead of mail order and it's cheaper. |
i use silkolene pro s 10w 50, expensive but worth it:thumb:
