Early October I bought a 2nd set of Subaru 16s with some lightly used SO2 PPs on. One pair had done around 1k miles, the other ~ 2k. Since then I've done about 5k miles, all road but some of that on meets and runs.

For some unknown reason I checked the rears at lunch time and found they looked like this:

Not wanting to get pulled and points for running tyres like that, I've just swapped the best pair of SO2s from old wheels onto the car which should be good for another couple of thousand miles.

Is wear like that purely down to geometry? The new wheels were balanced when I had them refubished. Both back tyres are the same - slick on the outside of the car, a little tread left on the inside.

Now then, Toyos or Eagle F1s next?

There seems to be even judgement on both tyres, but I seem to remember hearing that the Toyo's break away a bit sooner.
There is very little in it at all but I always remember the Tyre comparison that was done in a mag that had the S02 and F1 tied first place. S02's are widely regarded as the best so that swung me to the F1. :D

As you know I've got em one mine, dry grip is brilliant and wet grip is outstanding too, very impressive tyre for the money - I've certainly had no probs and thoroughly recommend them :D I think the F1's usually come out slightly cheaper but does not make them a worse tyre. i can't comment on the T1-S as I've never used em ;)

You would have to be running about 5 degrees of positive camber to get them to wear like that, so it is most likely that the rear has been set up to toe in excessively.

agree with Dave, toe looks the most likely cause.

I initially thought pressures might have been too low, but the very edges are fine (you girl!! ;))
