Always happens. I have a mate who trades in memorabilia, and although he trades continuously he admits that the unfortunate death of celebrities always increases interest and prices. He is however much too respectful to sell his items so soon.

AJF 16 September 2007 09:24 PM

heres one on pistonheads Subaru : sti 555 ltd mcrae 112

FFS he's got hundreds of prints of all different types of sporting personalities, I'm sure he's really trying to cash in

scoobyboy 16 September 2007 09:46 PM

he makes no mention of the fact he has died to try and boost his sales he's done nothing wrong
it's like subaru bringing out a limited edition mcrae again are they trying to cash in as well? i don't think so

scotthldr 16 September 2007 09:52 PM

What makes you think that they are trying to cash in? As said before this person has loads of sporting memorabilia signed and unsigned and more than likely was for sale before the dreadful events of the last 24hrs, they might not even know what has happened, my mate is big into his rallying but only found out this evening when I mentioned it to him ,as he was out last night and doesn't watch the news or get the sunday papers. Please, don't be so quick to judge others.

Snazy 16 September 2007 10:58 PM

Very sad when people do things like this. Profitting from the grief of others :(

Search for Mcrae autograph, all the lots were put on today, yesterday or very late Saturday, none were already listed (click time left and it changes the listsings to time listed)

Personally I'm hanging on to my ex colin rear sopoiler!

Market forces, nothing more:(
Cruel but real world.
I wouldn't do it but many will and who are we to critisize!
However; it won't take anything away from the great driver I watched in many forest stages.

evil.soup 17 September 2007 12:35 PM

What difference does it make anyway. Ok, someone is possibly making profit from others misfortune, but this is life.
I sometimes think that people are looking for things to post just to increase their contributions.
Colin was a great driver and will be missed and i will show my respect in which ever way is decided as a group, but people are taking things a little too personal. Im guessing that his wife doesnt give a toss about the guy making money from his death so why do we post about it??

Very true. The man was a legend, but I, and many others on here, never even met the guy.
To have a slanging match over someone on ebay selling some pictures of him is so inappropriate at the moment, it's unreal.
The ebayer has been selling sporting prints for ages, so what's the problem? :wonder:

bluenosewrx 17 September 2007 06:26 PM

Its Market forces i am afraid, what about the RB320????? was that not the same on a bigger scale????

Although a mark of respect, Subaru were never going to pass up a profit or the advertising opportunity. Business is business.

Well am sorry! I'll tell him to be more thoughtful in future and to always watch the news.

stiscooby 17 September 2007 11:37 PM

Don't get me wrong, it's a real shame what has happened, he was a great driver and i'm sure a nice guy too but the way some people are talking on here it's as if he was their best mate or something?

It's a bit harsh mailing people who have some items for sale isn't it? people are selling some memorabilia, so what, it's not really doing any harm is it?

Geezer 18 September 2007 08:49 AM

If you look at the guys selling history, he sells loads of autographed pictures, it's not like he has sold 200 toasters then suddenly tried to sell this!! Ok, it may be oppurtunist, but all sorts of things happen when people die (records getting released when the artists pops their clogs for one).

No one seems to have a go at funeral homes!

Scum is ridiculous. It's not as if they had gotten onto McRaes land and tried to sell a bit of the helicopter, I could understand that!

Geezer

I was shocked by some of the condolence posts on his web site. Some people have no respect for him or his family. Sick b@stards.
