Which shocks for 04 WRX?
I've an 04 WRX and have been told that I one rear shock has gone, and the other is on its way out too.
Has anyone any recommendations on which shocks to get? I'm pretty broke at the moment so the cheaper the better, although I don't want crappy ones. Cheers Andy |
Anyone? I've a budget of about £200 for the pair.
|
shocks..
dunno if £200 for the pair is going to be viable.. ive got the same prob on my 52 wrx.. subaru want £200 each for original replacements, then you`ve got fitting and alignment after that. and after being robbed on ebay for sti struts that never came ive bit the bullet and ordered a full set of tein super street kit for mine. £811 all in, fitted and alignment. no one said owning a subaru was cheap...

I've been quoted £490 by SGT (local Subaru dealer), but I think that is a bit too much.
I found a link to a website the other day on this forum of some shocks that someone recommended, but I can't find that link for the life of me! Been looking and looking but nothing. On that website, I could get both for about £150. If I can get the shocks on the net somewhere then I've a mate of a mate etx that works in a local garage that can do a cash job for me. |
KYB i supposed to be good and cheap, im looking for a set myself cant find any where that does them for an 04 plate!!!
KYB AGX Shock Absorbers |
KYB
Dont do them for the 04WRX ive been down that road as well. I went direct to the importer so from the horses mouth so to speak, Got quoted bout £135each for the rears from st ledger (doncaster) but obviously fitting and alignment all extra. Have a word with Carnetix used to be TSL engineers in nottingham but they are a cheaper but just as good.

Bit of thread drift but what sort of miles have you lot got out of your rear shocks?
My 01 has done just over 60k and is feeling a bit on the loose side now - shocks aren't leaking yet though. |
I've only done just over 40K miles. I've only had the car about 4 or 5 months and I believe they were gone when I bought them. My fault really but the garage assured me that they had done an extensive check on the car and all was fine. This is my 1st scooby. I should really have test driven more than one. I am taking it up with my warranty company as I believe shocks should last longer than 40K miles.

I've found the link that I was looking for...
https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.u...?recordID=2285 What do people think of these? KYB shocks. Only £140 for the pair inc delivery. |
KYB
Dont do shocks for 2004 WRX mate:(
|
They do.
Wasn't too sure as the website isn't that clear so I phoned them up and it is £144 for the pair of rear shocks inc delivery. He said that they don't do them on the site so but they can order them in. It is the 2002 model onwards apparently. Ordered them. Should be coming in a few days. |
Oh Crap
I rung em the other day an they said the dont:freak3:
If they fit let me know cause then I can get from the horses mouth rather than the monkey at the shop:lol1: Oh by the way was it the rears an only the rears, cause thinking about it maybe its the fronts they dont supply:wonder: :wonder: |
Soz Andy
Just rang em again and they do standard gas shocks non-adjust for 03 onwards £58.65+vat-front, £58.38+vat-rear:)
|
sorry for the late reply
Yes, it was just the rears, and they are they basic non adjustable ones. £143 I think.
Hopefully getting delivered in a day or two. Hopefully get them fitted by the end of the week. Will let you know what I think of them as and when. Cheers Andy |
Getting them fitted on Monday. £90 to fit them. Not too bad. Paid £140 for them, plus £90 to fit = £230. Over half the price that what Subaru offered me.
|
Got them fitted today. Really pleased with them.
For the price, I would definately recommend them. |
